Welcome to the Cleanzine

As an industry we’re in the business of making a difference – and, as I so often tell people, saving lives - since without our involvement, everything will soon fall apart. I rarely talk about individual companies in my Leaders but I’ve just learned about a great anniversary initiative that’s really going to make a difference, launched by one of the first companies I got to know when I joined this industry, and I’d like to share it with you.

Cleenol - the family run, independent developer and producer of cleaning & hygiene solutions, turns 75 this year. And as a company that’s always worked to give back to the community in which it operates, this year, as a celebration of this ethic, it’s launching the 12-month ‘75x75x75’ Charity fundraiser. It’s challenged itself and its customers and suppliers to raise £75,000 through participation of at least 75 people at 75 events. These can be large or small, group or personal and cover a gamut of types of activity… from the Three Peaks Challenge to a weight loss programme, to 24hr gaming endurance challenges and many more… Are you a customer or supplier? If so, why not get involved?

* LEADER-PIC-June-1st-2023.jpg

Three charities will form the core of the those set to benefit: Katharine House Hospice, , Oxfordshire MIND and the Thames Valley Air Ambulance. Katherine House was a natural choice, having enjoyed Cleenol’s support since its inception some 30 years ago. As well as providing cleaning supplies and charity fundraising receipts to the home throughout, Cleenol this year sponsored the development of the Hospice’s EPiC online resource to provide a broad spread of support services to people facing the challenges around end of life. The second charity focuses on one of the drivers behind the culture and management approach in Cleenol itself - the Oxfordshire ‘branch’ of Mind - dedicated to ensuring that the right support is readily available for those facing mental health challenges and that sufferers receive the respect they deserve. The third, selected by employees in an open vote, is the Thames Valley Air Ambulance, which provides life-saving support 365 days a year, to those involved in accidents and other emergencies. Operating solely on donations, in 2022 its teams attended over 3,000 incidents! Three very worthy causes then, that need as many of us as possible to ‘make a difference’.Follow the fundraising activities, get involved and add your own, and/or donate to all the events at: https://project75.mycleenol.com/

It is estimated that this will save 70,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere.
