WCEC launches Chartered Practitioners' Register to entire cleaning industry at Cleaning Show 2021 It has been a long wait, but finally UK cleaning and Facilities Management professionals have been able to convene in person at one of the major calendar events of the UK’s environmental cleaning industry - the Cleaning Show.
It is here that the Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners took the opportunity to launch the new Chartered Practitioner's Register to the entire cleaning industry. Terry Burrows retains window cleaning crown The Window Cleaning 'World Cup', held at The Cleaning Show in London's ExCel centre this week, saw Britain's Terry 'Turbo' Burrows crowned the Winner. Industry leaders delighted as apprenticeships bid clears first hurdle Delighted cleaning & hygiene industry leaders have welcomed a decision to give the green light to develop detailed proposals for an accredited industry-wide training programme and apprenticeship for the sector. Earlier this year, the British Cleaning Council sponsored a Trailblazer group, comprising major companies from the sector along with supporting stakeholders, to spearhead the development of the Professional Cleaning & Hygiene Operative Apprenticeship. 'Severe' cleaning & hygiene staff shortages could hit Covid-19 recovery, warns industry body The UK's cleaning & hygiene industry is suffering 'severe' staff shortages with the rate of vacancies having increased dramatically, according to a new survey of the industry by the British Cleaning Council, which warns that the recruitment problems could hamper the nation's recovery from Covid-19. There is also a warning that the healthcare sector is 'heading for disaster' and fears that transport, leisure and food hygiene, amongst many other sectors, could also be badly hit. EvaClean unveils PurExcellence for true infection prevention partnerships EvaClean’s new PurExcellence infection prevention program has been developed specifically for healthcare and higher education institutions to prioritise safety and sustainability and to provide customised solutions, standardised processes and perennial training, with a view to delivering cost savings of around 30%. The first step in the quest for PurExcellence entails a complete site assessment of current protocols, chemistries and applications based on a number of factors specific to each facility. IICRC announces Honorary Board Member The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning & Restoration Certification (IICRC) Board of Directors recently elected William (Bill) Luallen as an Honorary Board Member.
Bill is the technical director for XL North, a division of Textile Rubber & Chemical Company. He is currently IICRC Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) chair of the Commercial Carpet Maintenance Technician (CCMT) Committee and former vice chair of the Resilient Floor Maintenance Technician (RFMT) Committee. He also contributes to the Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) 204/205 Carpet Maintenance and Cleaning Standards. New strategic partnership will expand US distribution of odour control range Fragrance Delivery Technologies and Supply Source Enterprises have formed a new strategic partnership to expand the distribution of FDT products in the US. The exclusive agreement is effective 18th November, 2021 and expands SSE's existing odour control offering by introducing FDT's Dubai-manufactured innovativeOxy-Gen Powered air care technologies - including the Oxygen-Pro system - which deliver reliable and continuous odour elimination for the away-from-home markets. Global escalator cleaning machine market report 2021-2026 now available The ‘Escalator Cleaning Machine Market - Global Outlook & Forecast 2021-2026’ report, added this week to ResearchAndMarkets.com's offering, predicts that the market will expand at a Compound Annual Growth Rate of 11.36% during the forecast period, to reach Nielsen puts shine on new International Training Centre with £100K investment One of the UK's leading manufacturers of specialist cleaning products for the automotive sector has completed a £100,000 redevelopment of its International Training Centre in Derbyshire. Nielsen, which provides more than 100 products to car dealerships, professional valeters and commercial vehicle cleaning markets, has installed new non-slip floors, lighting and equipment, including pressure washers, foaming equipment, wet and dry vacuums and dual action polishers. Guaranteeing health and hygiene for RSPCA In February 2020, before the first Coronavirus lockdown was announced, Vincent Sherard-Bornshin, chief executive officer of RSPCA Bury, Oldham & District, realised that hygiene was suddenly going to become paramount for his organisation's premises.
Having had previous experience of similar machines, he approached Truvox International to see if he could obtain a Multiwash II. The company immediately arranged for a machine to be delivered - as a donation - by a local distributor. Keep Britain Tidy's Ocean Recovery Project collects a record 1,000+ broken bodyboards Over the 2021 Summer holiday season, 1,082 snapped plastic bodyboards were recovered from south-west beaches by environmental charity and British Cleaning Council member's Keep Britain Tidy's Ocean Recovery Project. The boards, collected from Croyde Bay, Fistral beach and Bude, are just a small percentage of the boards that go to waste each year. Working with community groups and beach owners, the coordinated collection has filled an entire shipping container with broken boards. Shockingly, this only scratched the surface of the problem across the region.
