CSSA hosts first ever live Clean Start Event to attract young talent to the industry

* CSSA-Clean-Start.jpgMembers of the Cleaning & Support Services Association attended a live Employers Engagement Day in October to promote the Clean Start initiative for the first time at a live event.

Year 11 pupils from Fred Longworth High School in Tyldesley, Greater Manchester, attended the careers event and were able to speak with a number of business and higher education representatives about the options and career paths available to them once they complete their final exams.

Daniel Cross, chair of the CSSA Marketing Executive and UK marketing manager for Tennant Company, was representing the CSSA and was on hand to speak directly with pupils about the many exciting career opportunities within the cleaning industry.

"This is a key audience for the Clean Start initiative because they don't realise just how many diverse and exciting opportunities exist for them in the cleaning sector,” explains Daniel. “For instance, once we started talking about the robotic innovations within the industry they were hooked.

"From robotic cleaning machines, online training and artificial intelligence aiding processes, to sustainable chemicals, the cleaning industry continues to making everyone's lives cleaner, safer, and motivate good environments for work and our livelihoods improve the way we live and has progressed."

To make the event more interactive the CSSA stand was supported with a robotic scrubber dryer and a stand-on scrubber dryer supplied by Tennant, and pupils were queuing up to try their skills at using the machines.

Rebecca Russell, careers coordinator at Fred Longworth High School says: "It was a day that made them stop and think about all the possibilities, engage with real world businesses, leave inspired and ready to tackle their future."

The CSSA is planning a series of live engagement days at schools and colleges across the country to promote the Clean Start initiative and to help educate people from all walks of life, whether they are a school or college leaver, graduate or simply looking for a career change, to reimagine their future and career as a professional within this sector.
