A group of employers who have come together to represent the cleaning & hygiene sector are calling for industry support by the 24th May deadline for an accredited training provision in the format of an apprenticeship scheme for the sector.
The employer group, comprising major companies from the sector along with supporting stakeholders, has formed an Apprenticeship Trailblazer group.

Exclusive Services Group achieves GBAC STAR accreditation to Covid-19 disinfection
Accreditation to the GBAC STAR Facility Program on cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention has been made to UK cleaning contractor Exclusive Services Group. The performance-based accreditation is designed to help facilities establish a comprehensive system of cleaning, disinfection, and infectious disease prevention for their staff and their building.
The program relies on GBAC's comprehensive training, which teaches protocols, correct disinfection techniques, and cleaning best practices for biohazard situations such as coronavirus.
Revised ANSI/IICRC S500 Standard for Professional Water Damage Restoration
The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning & Restoration Certification has published a newly-revised, ANSI-approved ANSI/IICRC S500 Standard for Professional Water Damage Restoration (5th edition, 2021). It describes the procedures to be followed and the precautions to be taken when performing water damage restoration in residential, commercial, and institutional buildings, and the systems and personal property contained within those structures.
Water damage restoration consists of the following components for which procedures are described in this standard:
PASMA training continues during pandemic
As restrictions start to ease across the UK, employers are being reassured that PASMA (Prefabricated Access Suppliers' & Manufacturers' Association) training is safe to do and widely available.

Kaivac Introduces the SIMPLE System
Kaivac has released the SIMPLE system for cleaning washrooms. The system is presented in video format on the Kaivac website and can apply to other spray-and-vac cleaning systems.
"The SIMPLE system can also be used in most any commercial restroom," says Kaivac’s Matt Morrison. "It helps ensure proper restroom cleaning and sanitation as more people return to the workplace.
