Welcome to the Cleanzine - the original Cleaning & Hygiene industry e-news Read by industry professionals in 163 countries worldwide! It’s long been said that ‘a picture tells a thousand words’ and a good picture can make an enormous difference to anyone’s ability to get their message across. And with the advent of the Internet, we have the ability to go one better – to shoot and upload a video, or include links to short movies on our websites. The only issue is in directing potential clients to that video – otherwise it’s all rather a waste of time, effort and money, isn’t it? I can recall in our early years at Cleanzine, (must have been at least 700 issues ago!) that we ‘shot’ Kaivac’s No Touch cleaning system in action at a cleaning exhibition and shared it with our readers, who probably back then only numbered a few thousand, mainly UK-based. How things have changed! I can’t quite remember what I was looking for (one of the hazards of the Internet – one can get easily distracted from the task in hand!) but I chanced upon a picture and a link to a short video on Unger’s Facebook page today, which led me to A E Mackintosh Cleaning Services’ website. Now this is where things get clever… I’ve always told people asking about marketing that a good case study or client endorsement works wonders when it comes to convincing other, potential customers that they ought to get in touch. We can all blow our own trumpets but that doesn’t necessarily mean we’re any good and it’s not as likely to sell our services as someone else singing our praises will, is it? A E Mackintosh has a pretty decent website. Indeed for a small business, it knocks spots off of many much larger outfits – and some global players too – who could do a lot better. As well as the video showing how it uses the new Unger Stingray for great results, there are lots of before & after pictures covering the various services the company offers, which prove that it does what it says it will. I often visit websites looking for images to illustrate stories I’m including and there’s nothing usable at all. What a waste! So look out for more on A E Mackintosh in future as its website features lots I can use in Cleanzine. And if you’re worried about not having enough potential customers visit your wonderful website that’s full of news, pictures and movies, Cleanzine can help! Please get in touch either by emailing me or posting a comment on our Facebook page. www.facebook.com/Cleanzine
