The Global Biorisk Advisory Council(tm) (GBAC), a Division of ISSA, today released clarification around revised guidelines from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) related to cleaning and disinfecting for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
The CDC's latest guidance noted that "cleaning with products containing soap or detergent reduces germs on surfaces by removing contaminants and may also weaken or damage some of the virus particles, which decreases risk of infection from surfaces." ISSA and GBAC wish to emphasise the critical importance that cleaning and disinfecting surfaces must not only reduce exposure to COVID-19, but to other pathogens as well.
Throughout the pandemic, the spotlight has understandably been focused on cleaning and hygiene to try to contain the spread of SARS CoV-2. Unfortunately, there has been another casualty of the last year; interior textiles, carpets and rugs.
Much harm is being done to interior textiles from sanitising and disinfecting products formulated for hard surfaces which are sprayed, wiped and fogged by untrained operators onto soft furnishings.
Tennant UK has appointed Paul Knowles in the newly created role of operations supervisor, from his previous position as product demonstrator. The operations team working from Tennant UK's Northampton warehouse and workshop will report directly to Paul.
In his new role Paul will focus on continuing to transform the Tennant Northampton operation function into the company's Centre Of Excellence for rental machines, by driving quality, productivity and profitability of the rental operation, in addition to managing the workload of the workshop team for both reactive and planned work, support the warehouse & demonstration teams with general operational issues and have responsibility of the daily transport planning for demonstrations, rental machines and general logistics requirements.
Some of the most prominent figures from the cleaning & hygiene sector will brief MPs and Peers next Tuesday, 20th April about how to restore people's confidence in using work and public spaces following the pandemic.
The key session is being run by the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on the UK Cleaning & Hygiene industry and is entitled 'Cleaning & Hygiene's Role in Restoring the Public's Confidence Post-Covid in Using Work and Public Spaces'.
Antimicrobial technologies such as coatings and textiles containing silver and copper are helping people during the COVID-19 pandemic by ensuring that whatever they touch, whether that is a door handle or their own mask, is free from live SARS-CoV-2 particles.
Ideal for anyone involved in the design, planning or installation of washrooms, bathrooms or public conveniences, the CPD is available this month and investigates important themes including product choice, sustainable water management, public health, regulations and legislation.
“With countries all around the world pushing to transition to cleaner energy, batteries are definitely part of the equation. Households can generate their own energy, for example using solar panels on roofs and in gardens and store excess power in their own battery - behind-the-meter.
Voting for the 2021 Custodian of the Year contest hosted by Cintas Corporation closes on Friday, 16th April. The top 10 finalists include a diverse group of committed school custodians and the lucky winner will receive a $10,000 cash prize along with $5,000 in products and services for his or her school from Cintas and Rubbermaid Commercial Products.
The winner's school will receive a comprehensive training and development package from ISSA, valued at $20,000.
London's Theatre Royal Haymarket has implemented a raft of Covid-secure measures that will enable the theatre to reopen on 19th May. The auditorium and access areas are now fogged with Nemesis eH2O, an anti-viral disinfectant, before every performance, and visitors temperature checked on arrival.
A video has been created to demonstrate the fogging process, and theatre manager Mark Stradling says: "We have made every effort to minimise the possibility of viral transmission and the video was created to provide reassurance to our customers.
