ACI welcomes Matthew Bisenius as Director, Government Affairs The American Cleaning Institute has announced the appointment of Matt Bisenius as director, Government Affairs. Matthew will be responsible for the development and implementation of ACI legislative and targeted regulatory policy with respect to federal issues, laws and standards. Matthew joins ACI from the office of former US Congressman James Sensenbrenner (WI), where he most recently served as chief of staff. Previously he was the director of Legislative Affairs at the National Propane Gas Association. A pilot study to investigate whether microorganisms that remain present on poorly washed hands can be transferred beyond the washroom environment to clinical and patient areas has found that drying hands with paper towels as opposed to jet air dryers results in lower rates of virus contamination on hands and clothing. CDC updates views on transmission of Covid-19 An April 5, 2021 ‘Science Brief’ from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) appears to call into question the amount of surface disinfecting necessary to quell the spread of Covid-19. According to the CDC, while it is possible to contract the disease by touching Covid-contaminated surfaces and then touching your nose, mouth, or eyes, the chances of this happening are "generally less than one in 10,000". ACI urges FDA to address hand sanitiser safety concerns The American Cleaning Institute is pressing the US Food & Drug Administration to clarify policies on labeling and refilling practices involving hand sanitisers.
In a letter sent to the agency, ACI expressed concerns related to the "new, increasingly widespread practice of providing hand sanitisers to consumers in public settings...that are often sold in bulk and used to fill existing dispensers, which can create a serious risk to public health & safety." Dnata and Uveya take cabin cleaning services to new heights with UV technology Dnata, one of the world's largest air services providers, is working with Swiss start-up technology company Uveya, to deliver the highest level of safety for air travellers and help provide confidence and peace of mind throughout the journey. The two companies will take aircraft cleaning services to a new level by utilising ultraviolet technology to sanitise the cabin. Dnata's enhanced cabin cleaning service was trialled on board the aircraft of Swiss regional carrier Helvetic Airways. Waterlogic, global designer, manufacturer, distributor and service provider of purified drinking water dispensers, has formed a partnership with global healthcare brand INEOS Hygienics, to add contactless hand sanitising solutions to its existing quality hydration and hygiene products for UK businesses. The partnership comes at a time when hydration and hand hygiene in business premises is important to their day-to-day operations. ISS divests activities in four Eastern European markets ISS has entered into an agreement to divest its activities in four Eastern European markets to B+N Referencia Zrt. The move is in line with ISS's strategy to simplify and focus its business towards key account customers. The divestment includes ISS's main subsidiaries in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, and Hungary. The buyer is the large Hungarian facility management company B+N Referencia Zrt. ISS will continue to support and remain as a partner for its global key account customers present in the affected markets. SoftBank Robotics EMEA - creator of cobots (collaborative robots) designed to empower people in their work - has appointed Ricoh Europe to support the increased demands in the deployment of its smart cleaning innovation, Whiz. When arriving at their place of work, cleaning professionals can programme Whiz to perform vacuuming against memorised routes while they focus on more vital and high value tasks. The cobot is suited for busy environments such as hotels, offices, healthcare and airports. Lanxess completes acquisition of disinfection and hygiene solutions provider Theseo Speciality chemicals company Lanxess has completed the acquisition of the French Theseo group, manufacturer of animal health and biosecurity solutions. Boston Red Sox’s Fenway Park stadium opens 2021 season with new disinfection plan Boston Red Sox has teamed up with Reckitt to create enhanced disinfection and cleaning measures at Fenway Park stadium, where heightened sanitation procedures will be implemented in advance of welcoming fans back to Fenway Park for the regular season. Becky Wall appointed managing director of Loo of the Year Awards Becky Wall has been appointed managing director of Loo of the Year Awards. She succeeds Mike Bone, who became chairman at the same time, (1st April) and who will continue to be involved in Loo of the Year Awards activities. The Awards are owned and run independently and since their introduction in 1987, the annual Loo of the Year Awards competition has strived to focus the spotlight on recognising and rewarding the very best washrooms throughout the UK and Ireland. It is considered the 'washroom standard' and a Loo of the Year Award is an established benchmark of washroom provision and compliance to national standards.
