The Cleaning Show 2013 opens its doors today not only with a large percentage of new companies exhibiting for the first time, but also with an impressive number of new features. Martin Scott, Exhibition Sales Director, says: “We expect The Cleaning Show 2013 to attract a record breaking number of visitors and with The International Materials Handling Exhibition running alongside the show, a huge increase in visitor numbers from the warehouse sector is assured. Exhibitors have one opportunity every two years to get their products in front of a massive buying audience – and they are certainly grasping this opportunity with both hands.” Highlights of the new features and attractions include: Innovation Zone and Awards: The Cleaning Show Innovation Awards have continued to grow in stature and, for the first time, finalists will be featured in a new Innovation Zone. Entrants can win either their sector or the overall award. There will be nine different sectors in all as well as a ‘Best New Idea Award’. The results will be announced this afternoon and we’ll be bringing you news of all the winners in tomorrow’s issue of this, the ‘Official Daily.’ Green Equipment and Services Pavilion: The Green Equipment and Services Pavilion will comprise a number of products and services from different companies, all developed to promote environmentally sensitive cleaning practises. Window cleaning always has a high profile at the Cleaning Show and this year will be no different. Those in the trade (and perhaps those thinking of taking it up) will have the opportunity to view and try out a huge range of innovative window cleaning products including water-fed pole systems, access equipment, safety equipment, work-wear, squeegees and accessories plus window cleaning machines and discuss with representatives of the Federation of Window Cleaners, some of the training programmes on offer - and in particular 'Cleaning Windows Safely' and 'Risk Assessment'. Our image shows the Prochem stand before all the equipment was brought onto it and while it might look impressive here, just wait until you see it in its full glory - there is so much to discover! For example, there's the Endeavor - a brand new portable carpet and upholstery extractor which has so impressed the judges of the Innovation Awards, that it has made it into the finals (you'll have to wait until tomorrow's issue to see if it's been awarded top prize, but whether or not it has, it certainly looks a winner to us...) British Cleaning Council : Stand H52 The Cleaning Show is jointly owned by the British Cleaning Council and representatives from several of the member organisations are on the stand to tell you more about their associations and why - as a service provider or supplier, you should join them and why - as a buyer or specifier of goods and services, you should seriously consider using a member of a reputable association rather than anyone else. Dry Fusion is using the Show to launch a groundbreaking new product that will allow operators of the popular Dry Fusion Carpet Cleaning System an impressive 50% saving! Re-Act is both a heavy duty pre-spray and pad solution in one. It dilutes 1:10 and replaces the previous 'Restore' and 'Activator' Dry Fusion products yet is more environmentally friendly. Managing director Shaun Bradbury tells us it is still WOOLSAFE approved though. Ophardt Hygiene: new hygiene dispensers Ophardt Hygiene is showcasing an enormous range of dispensers and complete hygiene solutions for public washrooms - including the impressive reliable and robust stainless-steel Santral series, which come as standard with the company's durable 'anti-fingerprint coating' for long-lasting good looks. "AFP ensures a noticeable reduction of visible fingerprints during use," says the team. "Additionally, AFP sustainably simplifies cleaning and care - this saves time and costs... More cost-savings are found in the free choice of filling goods: Santral dispensing systems can be operated with all standard disposables such as paper towels, toilet tissue, soaps, creams or hygienic bags!" FactoryCat / Elan Sales: Stand E80 The TomCat Orbitz range of scrubbers from FactoryCat have - literally - landed in the UK this week and you can see them ably demonstrated on a range of floor surfaces including concrete, marble and vinyl - showcasing their ability to strip multiple layers of seal without the use of harmful chemicals, reducing the risk of slip and fall potential and minimising the impact on the environment. The team on the stand told us that they are based on the well proven MicroMag, MiniMag and Magnum pedestrian models - now also available in a GTX ride-on version - and that they are available with the new oscillating brush deck, which can be fitted with a range square pads & screens for fast effective cleaning and stripping of vinyl floors. The 240v & 110v models are being launched at the Show. FREE training programme from Jangro Jangro, the UK's largest network of independent janitorial suppliers, is launching the first ever distance learning programme for the cleaning industry at the Cleaning Show. Jangro's 'Learning Management Solution' enables you to educate your cleaning staff anywhere, anytime, at a fraction of the cost of traditional training methods. The suite of training modules offers something for all. New staff will choose from basic modules, which introduce the PH Scale or explain COSHH requirements. Experienced staff will select from more in-depth courses, such as the Floorcare module, which provides an immense amount of knowledge regarding how to achieve best results on every kind of floor. The UK Cleaning Products Industry Association (UKCPI) told us it is offering a membership 'special' at the Show. For the first time, prospective members will be offered their first six months of membership to the association for free, when they sign up at the show. Cleaning Show visitors can find out more and pick up a membership pack at the stand. Philip Malpass, director general of UKCPI, said: "As the lead trade association for our sector, UKCPI delivers robust industry representation to politicians and officials, offers guidance and advice to members, and provides the industry's authoritative voice on a range of issues to the public, opinion formers and the media." UKCPI provides advice and guidance to manufacturers, distributors and users of cleaning and hygiene products. The associati Try as we might we couldn't get anyone from the Brightwell Dispensers team to dispense what we were after - the lowdown on what, exactly, Brightwell is launching this year! It's clearly a closely guarded secret but they shared with us that it's: "An entirely new range of chemical dosing and diluting equipment, which demonstrates yet again, Brightwell's state-of-the-art quality, striking innovation and world class manufacturing." If you want to know more, all will be revealed when the Show opens its doors open today. And if you're on the stand at the same time as we are, do make sure you say 'hello' and tell us what you think of the new products! Centrego will be launching two new versions of the Toucan-Eco that wowed visitors to the last Cleaning Show in 2011 and which has been impressing the cleaning world ever since. As well as the new Toucan Mini, Centrego is introducing the Toucan Eco II which has been created following increased customer demand for a jug-only device that can be used with conventional trigger sprays or with dedicated Toucan Eco spray bottles. The directors of Centrego are demonstrating the new model along with the award-winning Toucan Eco and the new Mini device. For those who aren't familiar with the technology, the Toucan system offers many benefits over conventional products: As you take in the clever features and sheer functional beauty of the floor cleaning equipment on display at the Show, try to imagine the frustration you'd feel if you owned such a machine and it didn't work... This is the costly scenario faced all too often in the cleaning industry -and it's one that industrial battery supplier PowerCell would like to help you avoid. "Today's cleaners are generally very reliable and well built, but whether they will function on any particular day depends largely on the quality and state of their batteries," argued PowerCell's Managing Director Derek Anderson. PTS Clean is showing the Italian-built Eureka Picobello 151 Manual Sweeper - a product that we know made the finals of the Innovation Awards in the Cleaning Equipment (outdoor) category, although we won't know until later today whether it has actually won the award or not. The company's Craig HosieIt told us that it was during a recent trip to the Eureka factory in Italy that realised the massive potential for this particular sweeper on his customers' sites. Greyland customer survey - results are in!
Yes, the Greyland annual Customer Survey has been evaluated for 2012 and despite all that could have happened (but didn't) during their move a year ago, the overall consensus is that Greyland service is 'Excellent.' Of those who returned their Customer Survey forms, none thought that they needed to use another supplier alongside Greyland, the reason being given was that the company scored highly for value for money and service (PS Greyland is the only cleaning chemicals manufacturer that offers a 4 day turnaround on orders - next day if you need it really fast!).
