Welcome to the
Cleanzine - the original Cleaning & Hygiene industry e-news Read by industry professionals in 148 countries worldwide! Today sees the start of that eagerly anticipated biennial event – the ISSA/Interclean exhibition, being held at Amsterdam RAI until close of play on Friday. Whether it’s the lure of the gathering of the cleaning and hygiene industry itself, or the many attractions of the beautiful city of Amsterdam that beckon weary show exhibitors and visitors at the end of a busy day - or even a mix of the two, which draws the global cleaning industry to this event, I don’t know… but the attraction is certainly there because the exhibition space has been 100% sold out for several months now and well over 20,000 visitors (and possibly even more than 30,000) will be attending from some 130 countries – generally not for one day but for several. And I can guarantee that those who’ve only earmarked one day to visit, will regret not having decided to earmark two or even more, once the doors close at the end of the day’s visit. There is so much to see and do and with just a few hours to fit everything in, one day will only allow you to scratch the surface. For each event, some 30% of exhibitors are first timers, and for each event, manufacturers large and small hold off their new launches until they can be showcased to the Amsterdam crowds. And of course the anticipation of getting hands-on experience of so many new products, ensures that the crowds attend. The formula works. Once again the organisers have put together a lively conference programme and as these can often be ‘standing room only’, if you do want to take part in one or more of the seminars, it would be worth reserving your place now. As well as the seminars there will be outdoor demonstrations, off-the-stand demonstrations in the show floor theatre, the hard-fought Miniskills competition, the Innovation Lab programme and the Innovation Awards presentation. Please get in touch either by emailing me or posting a comment on our Facebook page. www.facebook.com/Cleanzine You can also follow us on Twitter @cleanzine Yours, This Week's News

Prochem Europe is attending Interclean with two new key products from its extensive range of hot water extraction machines. Featuring a host of new performance benefits to provide power, performance and convenience in a brand new extractor design, the Endeavor's specifications include dual 6.6 in. high performance, low noise vacuum motors; the ultra-reliable 150 psi induction motor pump and a slide-in version of Prochem's advanced Heat 'n' Run in-line stainless steel heat exchanger. A 250 psi pump is an optional extra and handle-mounted wheels for easy vehicle loading, top front-mounted controls and new front-mounted wand stowage make the Endeavor a desirable option for the cleaner who can’t yet afford a truckmount. Truvox International is launching the Multiwash 340/Pump Battery machine – the latest addition to what has been one of the most popular floor cleaning machines in the company’s range. The new machine, which will be available from June next month, includes all the features that make the Multiwash so successful… It can wash, scrub and dry both hard and soft floor coverings in a single pass, leaving them ready to walk on in minutes. A choice of brushes allows operatives to undertake normal cleaning, maintenance cleaning or intensive scrubbing, while the low noise levels emitted during operation, provide minimal disturbance for people using the building that is being cleaned. The European Tissue Symposium is launching the 4th edition of the ETS International Cartoon Contest., using creative talent to promote the importance of proper hand drying and hand hygiene. Last year's cartoon contest resulted in 71 entries from 37 countries worldwide and a selection of these entries together with the winning contributions are being exhibited during the show. ETS regularly invests in scientific research but additionally it also reaches out to young talented artists to help them convey their message through the creation of cartoons or illustrations. This year, the contest will be organised through a dedicated Facebook page. The new Oxy-Gen Powered Shield Anti-Vandal Air Freshener makes its European debut at ISSA Interclean 2014. Like the hugely successful Viva!e Air Freshener, Shield uses patented Oxy-Gen Powered technology to deliver 60+ days’ continuous fragrance with consistent intensity. “Protective heavy duty metal brackets or covers that fit over an existing dispenser can spoil the aesthetic look of the dispenser as well as make servicing more difficult,” argues Product Manager Nupur Saxena. GenEon Technologies – a company based in San Antonio in the US, is launching Immers-A-Clean; a portable, hand-held, electrochemical activation electrolyzing technology for making cleaning, degreasing, sanitising, disinfecting and ionization solutions on demand. The system can make 20 - 200 litres of safe-to-use, sustainable cleaning solution in five minutes – in virtually any container - wherever and whenever cleaning is needed. You simply submerge the Immerse-A-Clean into a bucket, jug, scrubber or carpet extractor, fill with tap water, add the catalyst, press a button and in minutes a highly effective cleaner or degreaser is created. Alternatively, you can insert the Immerse-A-Clean into water without the catalyst and create an ionic, chemical-free cleaning system. Making its debut at ISSAInterclean is the fast growing British company Morclean, which as well as taking part in this event to showcase its new-for-2014 bin washing machines, is hoping to make contact with stand visitors keen to discuss the advantages of becoming a Morclean distributor. Says the company’s Peter Morley: “We’re delighted to be exhibiting our new 2014 range of wheelie bin washers. The machines are sturdy, fully self-contained, purpose-built wheeled bin cleaning machines, which provide owners and operators an economical entry into the lucrative bin cleaning market. Italian manufacturer Tecnovap is launching the Car Hygiene Plus car wash system. This easy-to-use, practical self-service system incorporates a steam and vacuum feature for interior car cleaning that uses dry, saturated steam. As well as cleaning and sanitising, it eliminates fungus, bad smells, bacteria and dustmites.
