Welcome to the Cleanzine - the original Cleaning & Hygiene industry e-news Read by industry professionals in 163 countries worldwide! Also writing for the kitchens, bathrooms & bedroom sector as I do, there are lots of exhibitions I can attend ‘for work’ that others attend out of pleasure; events such as the Ideal Home Exhibition, the May Design Series, Taste of London and Grand Designs Live, to name just a handful. These shows are fun to attend and I feel blessed; combining work with pleasure fools me into thinking I’m not actually working at all and there can’t be many people who can say that about their job! I also receive some wonderful press invitations and when a company rang yesterday, asking if I’ll be able to attend a rather exciting launch, I was delighted. Then I discovered that it clashes with a cleaning show I’ll be attending and I had to decline… Was I disappointed? Not at all! The show in question is Pulire – taking place from 19th – 21st May in the beautiful city of Verona and if you’ve never attended the event (or visited Verona) I can thoroughly recommend it. The show itself has a real international flavour and there are always lots of new products to examine and people to meet. It’s incredibly well organised and as one might expect from an Italian event, it feels somewhat relaxed and upmarket, with wide aisles allowing space to saunter and offering the chance to discover something you might otherwise have squeezed past and missed, as well as the feeling that there’s plenty of time to ‘do business’. And then there’s the food… Coming from the busy halls where we’re learning about new technology, and into one of the beautiful, ancient squares, where we sit outside and enjoy a drink and a meal with our industry friends… well – it’s not work, is it? If you want to find more out about exhibiting or attending, visit: www.afidamp.it – and if you’re not able to join us in Italy, we’ll be able to bring you a flavour of the event (if not the food!) in the official daily broadcasts we’ll be producing on behalf of the organisers. And if you are exhibiting, do please send me your press information as soon as you can, so we know what to look out for when we arrive. Please get in touch either by emailing me or posting a comment on our Facebook page. www.facebook.com/Cleanzine

K-CP's new GreenHarvest products are made from rapidly renewable plant fibre Kimberly-Clark Professional has launched GreenHarvest products, a cutting edge offering that incorporates rapidly renewable plant-based fibre, such as wheat straw and bamboo, into Kleenex and Scott brand towel and tissue products. The manufacturer say it is the first major towel and tissue manufacturer in North America to introduce products made with 20% plant fibre in place of tree fibre or recycled fibre, and that the move required the development of an entirely new supply chain to directly obtain wheat straw from US farmers and the creation of a first-of-its-kind manufacturing process for converting plant fibre into pulp.
