Speaking at Waste & Resources Action Programme's annual conference last week, Chief Executive Dr Liz Goodwin published results of the organisation's work over the past three years and set out its future agenda. She revealed that WRAP has met all its published major targets, having helped keep 11 million tonnes of waste out of landfill, avoid 5.5 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent emissions and generate £2bn of benefits to the UK economy, including £1.8bn of cost savings. As an important part of the information reporting on progress in the last three years, WRAP published new research which showed a sharp fall in household food waste by 13% but showed we still throw away edible food worth £12bn a year. Customers are shouting, but is anybody listening? Most British consumers (89%) are likely to tell the organisations they do business with if they receive poor service, yet almost half (44%) do not believe they take notice of, or really care about, the feedback shared, according to a study published this week by the Customer Contact Association and sponsored by Verint Systems. Francisco Duarte, 50, a director at Principle Cleaning Services for 22 years, passed away peacefully at home on 19th November following a long battle with cancer. Douglas Cooke, Chief Executive of Principle, writes: "Francisco played a major role in helping to develop and grow the company by ensuring extremely high standards of quality and customer service. He was a great organiser, loyal and totally dedicated to improving the cleaning industry for both the staff and the company's clients. "He leaves behind his wife Dulcie and two children and will be sorely missed by us all." T. 0208 341 4718 OCS achieves sparkling results in Asset Skills Team Clean Challenge Awards Two OCS cleaning teams have achieved sparkling results in this year's Asset Skills Team Clean Challenge Awards. After a raft of fiercely contested regional heats and the competition final in Birmingham, the OCS team at Chepstow Hospital scooped second place, while the company's team at Aegon in Edinburgh achieved third place. Bill Ochs from Aegon, Edinburgh, was also awarded Best Supervisor for Scotland.
