Welcome to the
Cleanzine - the original Cleaning & Hygiene industry e-news Read by industry professionals in 148 countries worldwide!
We're producing this issue of Cleanzine from CMS 2011 in Berlin and as well as being a surprisingly big show, it's busy and there are lots of new products to see and interestingly, some real innovation. There are 354 exhibitors from 20 countries. John and I have been here for two full days now and are beginning to doubt whether we'll get around to seeing everyone we'd like to (my picture, below, shows me grabbing a much needed coffee in the press office, between visits. John says it's about time we stopped using the old image, which was taken 16 years ago, as I don't look like that anymore. As the coffee cup covers much of my face, it means that I'm still going to be fairly unrecognisable but perhaps that's not such a bad thing bearing in mind the advancing years and the delicious cakes the Germans keep serving up!) As there is some general industry news that has to be included in this issue and there is so much ground to cover at CMS still, we're going to bring you a brief report from the show but over the coming weeks and months we will be featuring many of the new products we're examining here, so do look out for them. The legal dispute in Germany, Belgium and the UK involves what Karcher says are misleading advertising claims by Tennant for scrubber-driers that use ec-H2O technology. Karcher is taking legal action against several advertising claims made by Tennant, especially, it says, the assertion that ordinary tap water can, in scrubber-driers, be converted into "active water" that then has the same effect as a powerful cleaning agent, with the result that a floor cleaning detergent no longer needs to be used.
