Franciscan monastery in Pankow is all spruced up with professional support

* Hako-Cleaning-Days-2.jpgTwo days - one makeover: Supported by Hako's Berlin subsidiary, the Franciscan monastery in Pankow has been cleaned professionally.

Over two days in June, employees working in sales, administration and service at the cleaning machine manufacturer Hako, worked together in polishing the building and outdoor facilities of the monastery to a shine, helping out in the soup kitchen and maintaining machines.

"We are basically neighbours - and as neighbours it was important to us to support the monastery and its charitable work," says Torsten Meynert, subsidiary manager Hako Berlin. "A big 'thank you' goes out to our customer's company BGR for its support in lawn maintenance and to Dr Schell for supplying the cleaning agents and care products we used to clean and recoat the floor in the dining room."

Housing a soup kitchen, a charitable clothing chamber as well as hygiene and sanitation facilities, the monastery located in the Pankow district is an important institution for the homeless as well as other causes.

To make cleaning the outdoor grounds easier in the future for the six monks living in the monastery, Hako donated a Sweepmaster M600, which is a walk-behind sweeper, in addition.

Hako's commitment is part of the 'European Cleaning Days (ECD) 2015' campaign.

The ECD campaign has been initiated by the European Association of the Manufacturers of Cleaning Machines, EUnited Cleaning, in cooperation with the European Cleaning Industry Federation (EFCI) and the International Association for Washing & Cleaning Agents (AISE) and their respective members, to promote the image and the social acceptance of the cleaning industry and the people working in the cleaning business.

Various events will be taking place within the framework of the ECD campaign for people of different ages and professions until November 2015. Those involved, for example, will be visiting schools to educate pupils on the subject of cleaning, open house days will be taking place at companies engaged in the cleaning industry as well as exhibitions and 'Hands-on Cleaning' campaigns in public places.

"Hako is happy to support the European Cleaning Days' idea of promoting the services of contract cleaners and bringing their commitment to the attention of the general public. After all, a clean living and working environment is an integral part of a good communal life," concludes Torsten.
