New twin-linked polymer elevates performance of zinc-free formulae

* Mor-Glo.jpgOmnova Solutions has introduced Mor-Glo Ultra G zinc-free polymer resin, which is designed for the formulation of high-gloss floor care products.

The exclusive twin-Llnked polymer technology incorporated in Mor-Glo Ultra G resin results in an extraordinarily strong chemical bond that meets the challenge of producing a durable high-gloss, dirt-resistant finish without zinc, ensuring compliance with strict environmental standards that continue to be adopted worldwide.

"As environmental consciousness and regulations continue to grow, organisations and institutions increasingly are eliminating use of zinc-based floorcare products," says Rick Sandford, general manager of Omnova's global coating specialties business.

"Mor-Glo Ultra G resin has been designed to make sure our floorcare customers can support the market shift from zinc-based products to environmentally-preferred formulations without sacrificing the quality of the floor finish.

"Omnova's new twin-linked polymer technology uniquely balances permanent and reversible crosslinks, which permits easy removability of the floor finish when used in accordance with product instructions."

Historically, the move to zinc-free formulae has been associated with compromises in finish durability and repairability, argues Rick, who says that finishes based on Mor-Glo Ultra G resin, deliver excellent durability and response to high-speed burnishing, which saves time for busy maintenance service teams.

Despite having a higher density of bonding particles, resulting in an extraordinarily tough and dirt-resistant surface, the bonding is also reversible, making it just as easy to remove and re-apply during scheduled or unplanned maintenance, all of which is a real time savings.

Mor-Glo Ultra G has already received a positive reception in trials by Omnova customers and can contribute to the attainment of a range of environmental endorsements and certifications including the United States Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Design for Environment (DfE), as well as Greenseal, UL Ecologo, and both the EU and Nordic Ecolabel.
Omnova Solutions is a technology-based company with 2014 sales of US$1 billion and a global workforce of approximately 2,300.

The company is headquartered in Ohio, US, and serves a global marketplace from 10 chemical production facilities in Europe, Asia and the US. The regional headquarters for Europe is in Villejust, France.

The business has representative offices in Europe, Asia and the Americas and an extensive network of distributors and agents strategically located around the world.
