Interserve wins contract extension with B&Q
Interserve, the international support services and construction group, has been awarded a three-year, £35 million contract extension with B&Q - the UK's largest home improvement and retail garden centre - to provide cleaning services across its entire UK estate.
The partnership began in 2006 with Interserve cleaning 182 stores. This has now increased to include all 361 B&Q stores throughout the UK and Ireland, and will be delivered by a 1,400-strong team.
Included in the service provision is a new LEAN cleaning model introducing innovations, equipment and processes to improve customer services and cleaning delivery.
"Over the past eight years we have built an excellent working partnership with B&Q, introducing a number of efficiencies through our LEAN processes such as water saving systems that reduce water usage by up to 90% and mopping techniques that dry floors 75% faster, says Paul Daly, managing director for national accounts at Interserve.
"We have also implemented processes to ensure that high importance zones are prioritised and response times are improved by 100% so that areas are in service at all times.
"This approach is fundamental to our service provision and we look forward to continuing to support B&Q in achieving its business goals."
Under an additional £6 million contract, Interserve also provides catering to all 89 B&Q cafe stores as well as in five B&Q distribution centres through its Autograph brand.
