Cordant Services launches with £multi-million investment

* cordant.jpgThe Cordant Group has this week announced the launch of Cordant Services, in a move designed to offer additional value and services to existing customers, whilst providing a strong foundation for an ambitious growth programme.

It is supported by a multi-million pound investment in technology and infrastructure that will see the business offer a fully transparent solution and a strong collaborative approach to customer relationships.

Cordant Services will be headed up by Chief Executive Chris Kenneally with Jamie Reynolds as Group Commercial Director, and will comprise four closely aligned divisions. Existing cleaning and security businesses will be rebranded as Cordant Cleaning and Cordant Security respectively, and there will be two new divisions, Cordant Technical and Cordant Specialist Services.

Cordant Cleaning, headed up by Guy Pakenham, encompasses all the existing cleaning brands which cover around 550 sites across the UK, including the cleaning, servicing and scheduling of 6,500 London buses every day. As well as having a strong foothold in the transport sector, the business is seeking further growth opportunities in the warehousing and distribution, NHS and emergency services, education and professional service sectors.

Cordant Technical will provide technical project management in such areas as installations of new equipment, retrofits of mechanical and electrical equipment that is past its lifecycle, interior fit-outs and refurbishment, and assist clients with electrical compliance. In its initial phase the division will be managed by Jamie Reynolds alongside his commercial role.

Cordant Specialist Services, headed up by Brendan Musgrove, will build on the Group's existing expertise in cleaning by extending the offer to cover a range of highly specialised environments. These range from critical environments such as data centres, pharmaceutical operations and hi-tech manufacturing and food processing, to specialist applications such as high-level cleaning and biohazard cleaning.

With a 55-year heritage of reliable service, Cordant Security (formerly Advance Security) has over 4,500 employees, over 300 customers and manages 1,200 sites. Headed up by Edward Macfarlane, sectors covered range from professional services, property, retail, warehouse and distribution, to defence, public sector, utilities and facilities management clients.

Underpinning the launch is a major investment in technology due to be completed mid-2015 which will deploy new systems across the whole business, making it fully transparent for clients and facilitating open-book accounting. In addition, mobile technology is being put at the forefront enabling the business to be fully responsive to changing workplace situations, to optimise efficiency and value for customers.

"The business is already well-established in the sectors in which it operates, but we saw a gap in the market for an integrated set of niche businesses, run by service line experts who self-deliver tailored solutions to customers," says Chris Kenneally, chief executive of Cordant Services. "Aligning our specialist divisions within this new structure means that we can offer bundled solutions, and provide added value for customers.

"We are bringing in new technology that is way ahead of anything else in the marketplace, which, along with our strong leadership team will provide the platform to drive our ambitious growth strategy for the Group."
