Orbio innovation displaces traditional packaged chemicals with on-site, on-demand disinfecting, sanitising and cleaning solutions

The team from Orbio Technologies, a Tennant Company group, told us that there had been a lot of interest in the company's new OSG (On-Site Generation) technology and in particular the newest addition to the portfolio - the Orbio os3.

Through the process of water electrolysis-which combines water, electricity and a small amount of salt-the os3 system creates an on-site and on-demand effective cleaning solution and a disinfecting/sanitising solution that meets US EPA regulatory guidelines for disinfection and sanitisation.

It allows users to work safely, without the potential health & safety risks associated with some traditional cleaning chemicals, effectively cleaning most soils, including fats, proteins and organic oils.

We learned that one satisfied user is Eurest Services, a division of the Compass Group, whose Green Seal-certified Green Cleaning Programme offers 'effective, environmentally-protective cleaning to minimise exposure of building occupants and Eurest employees to potentially hazardous chemical, biological, and particle contaminants'. Eurest is the facilities services contractor for a large corporate research campus in Naperville, Ill., where the management evaluated the effectiveness of Orbio Split Stream technology using the Orbio 5000-Sc solution, a forerunner of the os3.

Paul Reimer, Unit Manager for Eurest Services at the facility, has worked in the industry for 13 years, including six in his current position. He jumped at the chance to test Orbio 5000-Sc solution, and he's glad he did. He's quoted as saying: "I didn't think you could clean effectively without conventional chemicals.

"Shortly after we began evaluating we saw incredible results, particularly in the carpets, which have never looked better. They are noticeably cleaner and fresher - a different shade of clean."

We understand that members of the cleaning crew love Orbio Split Stream technology and believe it cleans as well as the conventional cleaning chemicals they were using before. They also feel safer because there are fewer types of chemicals they can come in contact with and the strong chemical smells have been eliminated for much of their cleaning.

By using Orbio 5000-Sc solution in their auto scrubbers, carpet extractors and much of their spray and wipe cleaning, they have significantly reduced the quantity of conventional packaged cleaning chemicals they have to purchase, receive and store. They also have to dispose of a lot less packaging.

It's clean, safe and it works great," said Paul. "You can't get much greener than electrolysed water. The environmental advantages are huge and the cost savings are a substantial benefit."
