New griddle cleaning system cuts cleaning time in half
Cleaning dirt-encrusted griddles used to be one of the toughest jobs in a commercial kitchen - but not any more, thanks to 3M's new Scotch-Brite Quick Clean Griddle Cleaning System.
Quick, safe and easy to use, the product cleans flat griddles in half the time of traditional griddle cleaning products by incorporating a powerful but non-toxic liquid cleaner that lifts and loosens carbonised food from the hot griddle surface.
The food soil can then be easily and safely scoured and polished away using HACCP approved 3M Scotch-Brite Hand Pads, leaving a clean, hygienic griddle surface. Typically, a dirty, food-soiled griddle can be cleaned in 3 - 5 minutes.
"Griddle cleaning has long presented both a challenge and a risk," says Thierry Huin, 3M Market Manager - Food Services. "Using scrapers is time consuming and can cause costly damage to the griddle plate, while many cleaning chemicals contain harmful ingredients which give off noxious fumes and can cause skin irritation. There is also the risk of burns from the hot griddle itself.

Key to the system's performance is its powerful liquid cleaner, which unlike some chemical cleaners does not contain caustic soda or emit irritating vapours. When the liquid is poured onto the hot griddle (150-170C) it immediately begins to lift and loosen stubborn burnt-on food and grease from the griddle plate. The surface can then be gently scoured and polished using a 3M Scotch-Brite 450 Hand Pad and Multi-Purpose Pad Holder which features a 30cm handle to reduce the risk of burning and enable users to safely reach the back of a hot griddle.
Each 3M Scotch-Brite Quick Clean Griddle Cleaning System contains a 750ml bottle of ready-to-use cleaning liquid complete with innovative dosing cap; one pack of 3M Scotch-Brite 450 Hand Pads (six per pack); and a Scotch-Brite Multi-Purpose Pad Holder. No staff training is necessary and a full set of instructions are provided.
