Gala dinner farewell for Jangro's Chairman
Bryan Squires, who created the Jangro concept and brand in 1980 drawing together a handful of like-minded independent distributors, has retired as Jangro Chairman. He has accepted the post of Lifetime Honorary President.
Some 120 Jangro members and suppliers enjoyed a fund raising gala dinner and dance in Bryan's honour at the Forrest of Arden Hotel recently. Auctions and raffles on the night raised over £3,000 for Jangro's 2013 charity Macmillan Cancer Research.
Bryan was presented with a special 'Moments with Bryan' book in which everyone wrote a memory of working with him.
All dinner attendees and other business associates recognised and appreciated Bryan's foresight, enthusiasm, commitment and tremendous input which has made Jangro the 41 outlet £140m fast growing business it is today.
Margaret Squires was also thanked for her 35 years involvement, support and encouragement given to Bryan and Jangro over the years.
Bryan paraphrased Winston Churchill saying: "I see this occasion not as the end, it is not the beginning of the end, it is but the end of the beginning for Jangro. I stand down with Jangro the strongest it has ever been with a strong Board, diverse skills and abilities. We have a vibrant head office with the best leaders we could have, a dynamic General D.....Council with a good mix of young and older talents."
In September members and suppliers are celebrating Brian's 80th birthday by cruising down the River Thames on a paddle steamer.
