Quadralene triumphs in Medilink East Midlands Business Awards

* Quadralene.jpgQuadralene Group has walked away with the Export Achievement Award in this year's Medilink East Midlands Business Competition. The Derby-based chemicals manufacturer collected the prize at the Innovation Day awards evening held recently at the Radisson Blu Hotel, East Midlands Airport.

The company manufactures a wide range of specialised cleaning detergents and disinfectants for the healthcare, dental, food, automotive and micro-electronic engineering markets. With products sold in 41 countries, export sales account for 33% of Quadralene revenue. In 2012, overseas sales grew by 70% and are anticipated to grow by 50% this year. All of this growth came from opening up new markets in the healthcare sector.

Accepting the award, Managing Director Andy Corley said: "I am thrilled to receive this award on behalf of a terrific team that works hard each day to build our growing reputation as a leader in the field of infection control. Their tireless effort on behalf of our international clients is what makes the difference. This award is proof that their work is recognised not only in the UK market but on a global stage. They deserve all the credit and I could not be more proud of them."

The Export Achievement Award is sponsored by law company Shakespeares. Ed Wright, Head of Life Sciences said: "Quadralene has done extremely well in winning this award against some very stiff competition by demonstrating not only an exceptional ability to maximise opportunities to develop and exploit new markets but the even more impressive ability to do so internationally. The substantial growth that it has experienced in overseas earnings and commercial success, to levels that illustrate outstanding performance in the context of the products in question and the size and scale of Quadralene's operations, clearly differentiates it from the competition."

Speaking after the awards were announced, Dr Darren Clark, Chief Executive of Medilink East Midlands commented: "Quadralene has done well in following its Medilink award win in 2010 with yet another accolade. The company has shown how it is possible to adapt to new market opportunities, and in this case to build export sales on the back of diversification from the automotive sector into the healthcare market. We congratulate the company on its continuing success which illustrates that innovation and manufacturing are alive and well in the region."

Quadralene Group is automatically entered into the Medilink UK national awards which will take place in early 2014.

The Awards ceremony took place on the evening following the Medilink East Midlands Innovation Conference, which was supported by the Healthcare and Bioscience iNet project (part-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). This year's conference theme, 'Revolutionising Healthcare -What part will you play?' attracted over 200 of the region's leading businesses and academics in the sector.
