ERC sees TVH as example of remanufacturing success
Global parts specialist TVH has been acknowledged an example and a specialist in remanufacturing, by the European Remanufacturing Council. The announcement was made in the ERC's official statement released last week to several European heads of state during a European summit.
European heads of state meet in the castle Alden Biesen in Belgium to discuss how to strengthen the single market, reduce economic dependencies and boost EU competitiveness in a new geoeconomic context. Hosted by Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever, the meeting includes French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
For the European Remanufacturing Council (ERC), this meeting is the perfect opportunity to urge its participants to support the 'ReMade in Europe' sector. Enlarging this sector has many advantages, according to the ERC: "The larger this sector grows, the less often material will need to be mined, refined and machined to produce another brand new product."
The ERC sees TVH as the perfect example of a specialist carrying out the work of remanufacturing valuable parts into 'better than new' products.
"Our remanufacturing activities include disassembly, replacement of worn parts, and post-assembly inspection," explains Lorenz Verfaillie, director electronics at TVH. "Ultimately, our team of around 200 experts return products to a state that matches the quality of a new product. We have been successfully remanufacturing for over 30 years, and we are confident that our REMAN services will only grow further in the coming years."
This expectation is backed by a forecast by the World Bank, which sees sales of 100 billion € for the 'Remade in Europe' sector by 2030. This sector consists of companies like TVH, which give new life to products such as transmissions, hydraulic and electronic components, as well as consumer products such as smartphones and laptops.
To the ERC, it's clear that remanufacturing is key to strengthening European industrial competitiveness. Therefore, it calls upon the European leaders to support the 'Remade in Europe' sector by facilitating regulations, reducing costs and complexity to these companies' operations, and enabling them to scale up their remanufacturing operations.
With a stock of over 1,120,000 different references, and a database of over 49,500,000 item numbers, TVH supplies to customers from 180 countries.
