Idrobase vision stars at 5th African Green Growth Forum
Buoyed by encouraging results in a continent the company has frequented for years, the Veneto, Italy-based pressurised water technologies specialist Idrobase Group, continues its commitment to the new business objective of transferring part of its production from China (Ningbo plant) to Algeria, to develop the African market.
Three contracts already signed with three local companies for licensed production are awaiting operational approval from the Algerian authorities: the first concerns components for professional vacuum cleaners, the second, detergents for car washes, hotels and restaurants (HoReCa); the third for components for professional pressure washers.
The three Algerian companies will be provided with technology and expertise by Idrobase Ningbo (China) and the Italian parent company, which retains control and oversight of production. The components produced locally will be assembled with parts arriving from the other two plants of the Italian ‘pocket-sized multinational’, resulting in the finished products.
"The products manufactured under license will be branded with the Idrobase logo and sold in Algeria and on the African market," explains Bruno Gazzignato, co-owner of Idrobase Group. “The Italian parent company will ensure brand promotion, the connection between producers and the market, and, of course, quality control.
Chosen as a ‘best practice’ at the recent 5th Africa Green Growth Forum Ecomondo, the group says its strategy was highlighted in Rimini during a workshop to explore the strategic role of coordinated public and private investments towards shared goals of sustainable growth and climate resilience within the Mattei Plan and the Mission 300 Program.
Representatives from the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Confindustria Assafrica & Mediterraneo, and the Piano Mattei Task Force at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers expressed their interest.
"We chose Algeria because it is a competitive market and an important test of access to the continent, where we would like to export our business model in collaboration with local entrepreneurs from other countries, such as Morocco and Libya,” explains Bruno. “We believe we are thus offering opportunities for collaboration to emerging economies, in keeping with a vision that I believe is part of the modern Italian entrepreneurial DNA: considering others as partners, with whom we can build a better future based on mutual respect."
