Ivor Smith

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sad news of the passing of Ivor Smith, former managing director of Norfolk based Anglian Chemicals, last Sunday.

Ivor, along with co-founder and wife Beryl, and their son Paul Hendry-Smith, also went on to become UK and European Master Distributors for US manufacturer of cleaning chemical concentrates Essential Industries, and later, also for US floor cleaning machine manufacturer Nobles Floor Machines.

From the 1980s the companies regularly exhibited at the national and regional UK trade shows as well as at Interclean in Amsterdam.

Thus they were well-known nationally as well as internationally, bringing with them an enviable level of professionalism, thoroughly steeped in sound family values, an approach which made them hugely successful.

Following retirement from the cleaning industry, Ivor continued to remain an active participant and adviser with The Light Aircraft Company, a business founded by engineer son Paul whose passion is piloting small aircraft.

Ivor was one of the most genuine and nicest people in the cleaning & hygiene industry and his loss will be felt by many, including ourselves, as Anglian Chemicals was one of the early contributors to the ‘new-fangled interweb thingey’ and helped support our very own Cleanzine from the beginning.
