From Algeria to Morocco via Libya: Idrobase Group marches on

* Idrobase.jpegAlthough international uncertainty is no doubt having an effect on industries globally, the Venetian-based Idrobase Group continues its strategy of consolidation and expansion in African markets.

Whilst continuing its goal of securing the first licenced productions in Algeria, the Group has now launched Idrobase Marocco, which will supply components compatible with any major brand of pressure washers.

"The agreement signed for Morocco is a further part of our strategy which, alongside the Borgoricco headquarters in Padua, includes a strengthening of our presence in markets with extraordinary potential,” says Bruno Ferrarese, co-owner of Idrobase Group. “These include China, where we have been present for over 20 years, and Africa.

“Despite the recent episodes*, which have personally involved me, Libya also remains an object of our interests. There is already no shortage of opportunities dictated by the oil economy, but they will increase significantly, thanks to foreign investments, as soon as the country is stabilised. For this reason, we are testing the waters with local entrepreneurs for new licensed production of pressure washers, detergents and vacuum cleaners."

*The industrialist, was recently evacuated in recent weeks along with other Italians, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, due to “the firefights that broke out in Tripoli”.

The Group reports that its first balance sheet data confirms the validity of its ‘corporate organisational revolution’, thanks to the application of the Lean method: in a stable employment situation (about 50 employees in Italy), warehouse stocks were reduced by 20%, optimising production cycles and thus allowing the prices of some products to be reduced by up to 15%.

Its 2024 balance sheet closed with a +13% turnover (EBITDA: 12%) but despite there being an increase of 25% over the first two months of this year, the figure subsequently dropped to 4% due to the difficult global economic situation.

Commenting on the Group’s performance, Bruno Gazzignato, also a co-owner of the Group, says:

"In the current market conditions it is almost a miracle, a testament to the strength of the brand and the solidity of the company. Thanks to our constant search for new markets and maximum efficiency, we still expect to exceed, by the end of the year, the 15 million turnover achieved last year after recovering from the consequences of the disastrous fire of 2022."

The two co-owners say that the Group’s current success is also down to the presentation of the new line of car washing products at the Promotec show in Bologna, along with participation in ISSA Pulire Milano, where a team of university students, sponsored by Idrobase Group, came second in the hackathon challenge on ‘how to increase the performance of cleaning companies, thanks to Artificial Intelligence’. The sponsored team presented a proposal to improve hygiene in stadiums using the Group’s fogging equipment.
