Darren Marston installed as Master of the Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners
Last Friday, Darren Marston was officially installed, at the iconic Mansion House, London, as Master of the Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners. This is a significant milestone in Darren's distinguished career and years of dedication to the Cleaning Industry's Livery Company.
A business owner with over 30 years of experience and executive chairman of Industrial Cleaning Equipment (ICE), Darren has built a career centred on innovation and professional excellence. Starting at just 18 years of age as a janitorial supplies salesman, he developed expertise in cleaning chemistry, laying the foundation for his successful business. His early insights into product safety and efficacy shaped his approach to problem-solving and adaptability in a rapidly evolving industry.
More recently, Darren has been at the forefront of innovation, leading advancements in telemetry and robotics, which have transformed cleaning practices and industry practices and standards.
"I'm honoured and grateful to be appointed Master of the Environmental Cleaners,” says Darren. “Livery fellowship has been transformative and rewarding for me personally and I intend to build on the achievements of my predecessors. That means championing the CPR (Chartered Practitioners Register) scheme and promoting our livery's excellent charitable work in the community and beyond."
By all accounts, attendees enjoyed the Installation Banquet in a fun atmosphere laced with tradition and warm fellowship. Darren even presented a cheque to the Lady Mayoress for the Lord Mayor's Appeal.
The Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners congratulates and welcomes Darren Marston as its new Master, the new Senior Warden Kevin Meighan and Junior Warden, Phil Smith.
The Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners is one of 111 Livery Companies which are based upon trades, industries and professions and carry on the ancient traditions of the Guilds and Livery Companies which started in the 12th century. Formed in 1972 as the Guild of Cleaners and subsequently known as the Guild of Master Cleaners, the Company was granted full Livery Status in 1986 as the Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners, the 97th Livery Company of the City of London. HRH Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh was an Honorary Freeman of the Company.
The Company aims to encourage and maintain high standards of practice and integrity while promoting and supporting education, training and research projects within the cleaning industry. Examples of its efforts to raise the industry can be seen in its achievement of a Royal Charter in 2010, and granting of its Charter of Registered Practitioners, in 2021.
