Metsä Group's tissue paper business receives fifth Platinum Rating in EcoVadis evaluation for 2024

* Metsä-Group-Ecovadis.jpgMetsä Group's tissue paper business, including greaseproof paper business, has once again achieved the highest Platinum rating in the EcoVadis sustainability and social responsibility evaluation for 2024. This marks the fifth consecutive year the company has been recognised with this esteemed rating, placing it among the top 1% of all companies assessed by EcoVadis.

Metsä Tissue maintained high scores across all four themes evaluated, excelling particularly in the environment category with a score of 90/100.

EcoVadis offers global corporate sustainability ratings through a platform that enables companies to evaluate their suppliers' performance in environmental and social responsibility. The assessments cover four themes: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.

"We are proud to have received a Platinum rating from EcoVadis for the fifth consecutive year," says Esa Kaikkonen, CEO of Metsä Tissue. "Despite increasingly stringent criteria, we met the requirements for a Platinum rating, affirming the excellence of our sustainability practices, which have been rated highly by the globally recognised entity, Ecovadis.

"Our advanced sustainability management system, covering all four assessed themes, continues to provide a solid foundation for the ongoing enhancement of our sustainability efforts.

"I extend my sincere thanks to our internal and external stakeholders who have contributed to achieving this great result."

Metsä Tissue is dedicated to advancing the bioeconomy and circular economy by efficiently converting northern wood into high quality tissue and greaseproof paper products. Its sustainability goals drive it towards continuous improvement, with a target of achieving fossil-free mills and products by 2030.

Additionally, the company is committed to ensuring that its operations are ethical and its workplace is safe. Its well-known brands that deliver these qualities to users are Lambi, Serla, Tento, Mola, Katrin, and SAGA.

Metsä Group's parent company, Metsäliitto Cooperative, is owned by around 90,000 Finnish forest owners.
