Obituary: Michael Parrish of Wightman & Parrish
Michael Parrish, of Wightman & Parrish, has died at the age of 85.
Michael steered Wightman & Parrish from retail to a new venture of distributing cleaning supplies back in the early 1960s.
He worked with companies such as Lever Industrial, Kimberly-Clark, Jeyes Hygiene, Fort-Sterling etc., along with other distributors, to help develop the role of the distributor in the supply of cleaning & hygiene products. He was involved with JANSA (forerunner to the Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association) and was chairman of Nationwide Hygiene Supplies.
As well as the important role Michael played in the cleaning industry, he was in the Royal Naval Reserve for 25 years and a Magistrate for 30 years. He was also involved in the local church. His wife Pam worked with him in the business and they brought up their three children, Richard, Nicholas and Juliet, giving them every opportunity to excel.
