How MAG Laundry Equipment is striving for a sustainable future

* MAG-1.jpgIn an era where businesses worldwide are recognising the urgent need to combat climate change, one Halifax-based company is setting the example, appreciating the threat climate change poses is closer than we all think. Although a global average temperature increase of 1.1 degree celsius may not sound too shocking, it has already had a huge impact on our planet, as we watch extreme weather destroy homes and habitats, glaciers melt, and sea life decline in oceans that are too warm. These environmental shifts are impacting  people's lives, with more than 20 million people at risk of severe hunger following the East African droughts, as just one example

Industries being more sustainable in their approach to business is just one way the corporate sector can affect real change. Small efforts together consolidate into a majority, which has the power to impact what we currently see at play, and is exactly the route commercial laundry solutions supplier, MAG Laundry Equipment, has chosen to take.

The team at MAG has pledged to reach net zero by 2040, a decade ahead of the UK Government’s target, championing responsible energy and water consumption throughout its operations. To ensure the success of this pledge, MAG has invested an additional five million pounds into the research and development of its product ranges, ensuring they are as green and sustainable as possible.

* MAG-2.jpgWith the laundry specialist’s products remaining some of the most efficient in the world, MAG’s machines can utilise an innovative water recycling system, saving up to 70% on water consumption without compromising on high-quality wash results.

Without overlooking broader endeavors to impact the reduction of climate change, 100% of MAG’s electricity now comes from renewable energy sources, and its fleet of service vehicles comprise both electric and hybrid models, with ambitions to fully electrify all vehicles later this year. Not only that, the laundry specialist is committed to impacting the reduction of CO2, pledging to plant 1,000 trees this year, one for every commercial washing machine supplied, doubling the number planted by the team throughout 2022. Single-use plastics have also been removed and replaced with sustainable alternatives at its Halifax headquarters, which has put this issue on employee radars across the business.

* MAG-3.jpgNot only that, MAG also has a Green Mark, an internationally recognised environmental certification for companies that want to assure clients they are conducting business to recognised environmental standards. As a leading supplier of commercial laundry machines, we have a responsibility to make sure the products we supply are sustainable and environmentally friendly. More than that, MAG also ensures its products are excellent value which save customers time and money thanks to the following product features:

* MAG-4.jpgSpeaking on the company’s mission to achieve a sustainable future, Mark Dennis, Managing Director at MAG Laundry Equipment, said: “Creating a responsible and sustainable supply chain is our ultimate goal. Not only does this reduce our business’ CO2 emissions, it lowers indirect emissions relating to our energy consumption, those generated upstream by our suppliers and downstream by customers.

“We have made massive sustainability steps this year, setting our own targets to stay ahead of the net zero curve, and remain committed to exploring, developing, and adopting new strategies to reach carbon neutrality in the race against climate change.”
