Planet Mark teams up with Metsä awards to ensure carbon neutral status

* PlanetMark_SteveMalkin.jpgPlanet Mark, a leading sustainability certification, has ensured that Metsä Tissue's UK Sustainability Awards 2023 have been carbon neutral in accordance with internationally recognised specification for carbon neutrality published by British Standards Institution (PAS2060).

Metsä Tissue, part of Metsä Group, is leading the way in taking responsibility for its carbon footprint by ensuring that its carbon neutrality status is verified by Planet Mark's sustainability experts. Planet Mark also assesses compliance of Metsä’s Awards offsetting projects and will guide in establishing a carbon reduction plan for the years to come.

The Metsä Tissue's UK Sustainability Awards have been introduced this year to highlight and reward sustainability practices throughout the cleaning & hygiene industry and to encourage and create a positive, lasting impact on the environment. The Awards, in partnership with the Cleaning & Services Support Association, attracted 64 entries from 43 companies, including Planet Mark members Hillbrush, Nuserve, Doc Cleaning and GreenZone.

In addition to verifying the Award's carbon neutrality status, Planet Mark's founder and CEO Steve Malkin (pictured) was on the judging panel.

"It is fantastic to see so many companies within the cleaning & hygiene industry being acknowledged and celebrated for reducing the environmental impact of their organisation,” he says. “This vital industry is making strides in becoming more sustainable and I applaud those who are leading the way in best practice.

“I am honoured to be judging these awards and I'm pleased that our experts at Planet Mark have been working with Metsä to ensure the Sustainability Awards 2023 have achieved carbon neutral status."

Planet Mark is an internationally recognised sustainability certification which recognises continuous progress, encourages action, and builds an empowered community of like-minded individuals who make a world of difference. It offers tailored certifications for businesses and real estate as well as calculating social value contribution through the TOMs framework and PAS2060 carbon neutral verification.

Organisations become a Planet Mark member as soon as they sign up and commit to reporting their carbon footprint and engaging their stakeholders. Once organisations have submitted the data required and Planet Mark has assessed their carbon footprint, they become Planet Mark Certified and start their journey to continually reduce their emissions.
