* LOTY-AWARDS-WINNDERS-2023.jpgOne of the biggest events in the UK's cleaning industry calendar ' The Loo of the Year Awards, sees hundreds of people gather at the National Motor Cycle Museum, Solihull, to laud those involved in providing the best of our away-from-home washrooms.

The most recent event was cause for an even bigger celebration, with the Hereford-based Awards themselves celebrating their 35th Anniversary alongside Mitie, whose team was awarded double trophies along with the 'Big One'.

This year the Awards were headline sponsored jointly by Citron Hygiene and Aunt Flow and the associate sponsors were Accrol and P-Wave. Cistermiser was this year's Awards Supporter. The compere for the day was Jules Hudson from BBC 'Escape to The Country' and Channel 5's 'Week on the Farm' and 'Cash in the Attic'. The entertainment was provided by Ben Nickless as seen on 'Britain's Got Talent', while a disco and band provided a party atmosphere for the evening.

The event saw many trophies and certificates presented to congratulate those that are creating a higher standard of hygiene and safety within our washrooms. The overall winner was Mitie and some of its clients were highly recognised too, when it came to both certificates and trophies.

Becky Wall, managing director of the Loo Of The Year Awards said: "We would like to congratulate all certificate winners and also the overall UK Trophy Winners in the following categories, who are: -

'A new construction and engineering category highlighted by the Bald Builders of Fix Radio, who entered a modified plastic portaloo to show the importance of raising standards of toilets provided within the construction site.
'A Website-linked App which will become live in the Summer, (if not before) showing all the entrants, where they are and what gradings they've achieved.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Antony Leamon who has been an inspector for the Loo of the Year Awards for over 11 years; who has also built and now runs his own very successful Accredited cleaning and training company in Wales.

The Washroom Cleaner Award winner (to be called Washroom Technician from 2023) was Isobella Green from Look Out Discovery Centre, Bracknell, who was congratulated on her 22 years' service.

The Awards also had a visit from a walking poo mascot who came with ERIC, the Children's Bowel and Bladder charity, which is, for the second year in a run, the chosen charity to be supported by LOYA.

One of the attendees on the day was the lucky winner of the £1000 travel voucher, given out to celebrate the Awards' 35th Anniversary.

Charles Wall, chairman of the Awards, says of the event: "A very successful day was had by all, with lots of important networking through many of us within the washroom industry'. He also went on to thank all the team, especially Jane Kibble (awards manager) for all their hard work in bringing the Awards together.
