Students & Abbee cleaning up

* Abbee-Hive.jpgIt's not only students going to school this September; many schools & colleges across the UK are also employing Abbee robots to contribute to the net zero pledge, enthuse students and support cleaning staff.

NESCol, North East Scotland's largest provider of vocational education and training, has introduced a fleet of Abbee cleaning robots following extensive trials & testing.

The results of the trials revealed over 1/2 a tonne of Carbon Emissions (CO2e) could be saved, contributing to the Net Zero pledge. The technology also proved to be more efficient, more economical and easier to use than traditional vacuum cleaners.

Abbee is a commercial cleaning robot that after trials has proved to reduce the amount of electricity used to vacuum NESCols classrooms by over 60%. Using ATP swab tests, Abbee has also shown that carpets were 40% cleaner after only the first three days of use.

"It makes perfect sense that when we're teaching our students about automation and robotics, we as an organisation, should be making use of this technology,” says NESCols Mike Wilde, facilities client services manager. “The benefits go beyond efficiency savings, the data also showed that carpet areas were cleaner, and the energy used to vacuum floors reduced by nearly two-thirds, saving over half a tonne of CO2e each year, helping support our pledge to be Net Zero."

Seun Oguntodu, regional operations manager for Mitie Cleaning & Hygiene Services, adds: "The environment, our staff and our customers are equally important to Mitie. The Abbee robot vacuums help reduce our environmental impact, ease staff pressures, and give improved results compared to normal vacuums. These are the three key reasons we are actively introducing them into to multiple clients' sites across Scotland and the rest of the UK."

Abbee and the UK-manufactured Hive cleaning trolley is a leading commercial automated vacuuming solution, which is in use in education, hospitality and corporate offices throughout the UK and beyond. It is supplied by Oxfordshire-based ‘The Perfect Little Company’, whose CEO Michael Richardson says: "We're incredibly pleased to be working with NESCol, who support over 20,000 students achieve their goals, and Mitie, the UK's largest facilities management business, in helping reduce the environmental impact of cleaning, improve standards and reduce cleaning staff stress."
