Sodexo celebrates its dedicated frontline colleagues whose vital work helps hospitals run smoothly
Yesterday, the first ever National Healthcare Estates & Facilities Day showcased the hundreds of thousands of committed people behind the scenes, carrying out non-medical frontline work in healthcare. Says enthusiastic participant Sodexo Healthcare:
“While many people will think of the important and amazing work of our doctors, nurses and other clinicians in NHS hospitals, this day aims to focus on the roles of colleagues such as porters, cleaners and domestics, catering workers and maintenance people.
“That is because, without them, hospitals would simply cease to function properly and their dedication helps ensure medical staff continue to care for patients - something they have done with pride before, during and since the pandemic.”
Around 6,000 people work for Sodexo across healthcare settings - including at numerous NHS hospitals. Colleagues at hospital sites Sodexo is based at across the country - such as at Wythenshawe Hospital, the Manchester Royal Infirmary and Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Buckinghamshire – took part in celebrations to mark the day.
"It is a great that a special day has started up to celebrate the dedicated work of our frontline colleagues who work tirelessly to help make sure hospital and other healthcare settings run smoothly,” explains Philip Leigh, CEO of Sodexo Healthcare.
"Our 6,000 colleagues work as part of a team with their counterparts in the NHS and the work they do directly improves and helps patient care.
"I would like to thank all of them for everything they do and the way they go that extra mile to help the medical staff they work with as well as patients."
The contractor has put together a short video to help showcase how important our healthcare estates and facilities management teams are and it can be downloaded via:
