SERV Hampshire blood runners clean up with spill packs

SERV Hampshire blood runners are cleaning up any accidental spillages with the latest high tech blood spill packs.

Set up in 2006, SERV provides a free out of hours transportation service for NHS Hospitals across Hampshire. Its riders and drivers mainly carry emergency blood supplies - hence the name 'blood runners'. But SERV will transport any urgent consignments needed by doctors, hospitals and laboratories for the medical or surgical treatment of patients.

Operating 365 days a year between 19.00 and 06.00, all SERV members are volunteers and rarely even receive reimbursement for their expenses.

SERV Hampshire does not receive funding and is run entirely on donations. The organisation needs to raise £15,000 during 2011 to achieve its goals.

GV Health, which manufactures emergency spill packs, is donating a number of blood spill packs to help SERV riders and drivers deal with any spillages encountered during transportation. Blood spill packs contain everything needed to deal safely with blood spillages, allowing SERV's riders and drivers to continue their journey with minimal interruption in the event of an accidental spillage.

Blood spill packs from GV Health are used throughout the NHS. They offer a simple and highly effective all-in-one solution to blood spillages.
GV Health has what it believes is one of the largest ranges of spill packs in the UK. This includes packs for other biohazards (body fluids), for the safe handling of cytotoxins, chemicals and other infectious substances. The NHS has awarded the company a number of exclusive supply contracts.
