Matrix announces appointment of new managing director
Matrix Cleaning Systems has appointed Natalie Pownall as its new managing director. Natalie has been working alongside her father Bob Pownall for 16 years and it has come the time that Bob has decided to stand down and pass on the reigns to his daughter.
Natalie is a proven business leader within the manufacturing and supply of steam cleaning machines. She has successfully played a huge part in the growth and development of Matrix Cleaning Systems since day one as the office manager and company director. Natalie will continue to use her knowledge and expertise to grow the family business to the next level and looks forward to taking on a more operational role within the business.
Bob says: "I plan to semi retire and distance myself from the business and enjoy spending more time with my youngest son.
“The business is in great hands and Natalie will continue to do a great job in building on what has already been achieved along with the team at Matrix."
Commenting on her appointment, Natalie says:
"Matrix has built a great reputation for high quality products and excellent support to its customers with a great team behind it. I am extremely excited to see the company go from strength to strength in its market position; develop growth opportunities and new products.
“This is a very exciting time for both Matrix and the cleaning industry."
Matrix Cleaning Systems is the leading UK manufacturer of a complete range of steam machines manufactured in Leyland, Lancashire. The portfolio can encompass all aspects of your steam cleaning requirements, including housekeeping, catering and leisure environments, contract cleaning, food manufacturing and specialist chewing gum removal solutions. As the UK's leading steam-cleaning manufacturer Matrix is in the enviable position of having a greater degree of control over its product, offering quality, reliability, robustness and value.
Prior to its official launch in 2006, Matrix was a family run business, supplying and servicing steam cleaning machines under the name Steam Clean UK. Then, with the help of two investors, it purchased the manufacturing capability of Dimplex. In 2014, the business fell back in the hands of the family alone.
Initially there were just three machines in the range... Now the portfolio encompasses an extensive range of over 50 machine models in many variations from light commercial 4.5 Bar pressure machines to the imported heavy duty industrial range with operating pressures from 8 - 10 Bar.
Bob Pownall says: "Like most companies, we had something of a rough time during the two recessions but we managed to get through them relatively unscathed. We started out supplying within the UK only, but we have grown both in size and status and are now supplying to over 30 countries globally."
As well as the wide range of machines available from stock, Matrix also designs and builds bespoke machines for some of its key accounts; also offering own branding for global partners. All Matrix machines are manufactured from stainless steel, making them ideal for food preparation, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, hospitality and kitchen environments.
"We will always offer an onsite demonstration facility to ensure that the machine will fulfil each customer's requirements exactly," says Bob. "New business is particularly rewarding when it's as a result of a recommendation from someone already using a Matrix machine. We want to ensure that all our customers are happy with their purchases as well as the service and training we provide."
Having been a key supplier in supporting the fight against the global Covid-19 pandemic, production staff levels were increased along with material stock holding to be able to supply large volumes of equipment at short notice.
