Revised ANSI/IICRC S100 Standard for Professional Cleaning of Textile Floor Coverings published
Global standards developing organisation, the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning & Restoration Certification, has published of a newly revised ANSI approved standard: ANSI/IICRC S100 Standard for Professional Cleaning of Textile Floor Coverings (7th edition, 2021).
ANSI/IICRC S100 describes the procedures, methods, and systems to be followed when performing professional commercial and residential textile floor coverings (e.g., carpet and rugs) maintenance and cleaning.
It does not specifically address the protocols and procedures for restoration or remediation of contaminated textile floor coverings or evaluate the strengths or weaknesses of individual cleaning methods, or compare or contrast one method or system, equipment, or product, with another.
"Special thanks to vice chair, Norm Maia, our committee members and all who volunteered their valuable time over the past three years," says S100 Chair Stephen Lewis. "The revised ANSI/IICRC 2021 S100 is full of updated information that will benefit all who choose to use it.
“The magic behind this revision is that our committee of industry-recognised professionals, with diverse training and technical backgrounds, were able to agree on the cleaning fundamentals of various textile floor covering cleaning systems used to maintain and clean carpets and rugs.
“Thank you for the time each and every one of you has dedicated to this endeavor. Your participation is sincerely appreciated. This ANSI/IICRC S100 revision would not have happened without you."
