Medirest’s Anna Hallas recognised in New Year's Honours List

* Medirest_Anna-Hallas.jpgMedirest's national domestic and infection control manager, Anna Hallas, has been named in the New Year's Honours, which recognises the achievements of a wide range of extraordinary people across the UK.

Having worked for Medirest, Compass's Healthcare division, for 24 years, Anna is instrumental in supporting its domestic teams in the delivery and measurement of domestic services and adherence to infection control standards across the organisation's partner Trusts. Anna's role has never been more important supporting teams with the ongoing fight against Covid-19 and working collaboratively with NHSI/E. Anna was nominated by the NHS for this recognition.

In addition, Anna was recently named as Medirest's Healthcare Hero winner, a campaign to recognise the many Healthcare Heroes across the division. From the hundreds of nominations received, Anna was selected as the overall winner for her amazing work and unfaltering effort supporting NHSI/E in the development and implementation of new Standard Operating Procedures.

"I'm so proud to be named on the New Year's Honours list and become an MBE,” says Anna. “I know 2020 was a challenging time for so many and I hope the work I have done has gone some way to making a difference. I love supporting the NHS and being part of a team who care so much about the importance of the role we play."

Steve Cenci, managing director Compass Group UK & Ireland Healthcare, says: "This year, we have seen how important cleaning is in reducing the spread of infection and Anna is in a unique position, using her specialist knowledge and experience to support our organisation, but also hospitals across the country.

“It's wonderful to see her get this well-deserved acknowledgment and I want to thank her for always going above and beyond. Anna is an inspiration and her work has made a huge impact."

Adrian Eggleton, national estates operational lead at NHS England and NHS Improvement, knows Anna has played a significant role in the championing of the FM workforce in the NHS and the development of guidance in support of the national team at NHS England and NHS Improvement. He says: “This has been especially so during the COVID-19 pandemic, helping us produce procedures and training packages for the FM workforce to operate safely and effectively, which has been instrumental in the NHS response. This recognition is well deserved."
