PSP introduces range of disinfecting fogging guns to UK in fight against spread of Covid-19

* PSP-fogger.jpgPSP has added a range of disinfectant fogging guns to its cleaning and disinfecting product offering.

The Low Volume Fogger, Medium Reach Fogger and High Reach Fogger, manufactured by Arkansas-based Lafferty Equipment, use compressed air to project a fog of finely atomised disinfectant spray that combats airborne and surface pathogens such as the coronavirus.

The disinfectant fogging guns can be used for operator guided disinfection applications wherever there is a suitable compressed air supply. This makes them an ideal product for the disinfection of warehouses, factories and other workplaces that have an existing compressed air system.

The guns have an integrated container that holds disinfectant solution. Compressed air passes through the gun entraining the liquid to form a low volume, well atomised fog which is ejected from the gun's nozzle. The gun is controlled by a simple trigger valve. Depending on the model, the guns project the fog between two - eight metres.

Dosing rates can be controlled via the insertion of different restrictors into the siphon tube. This allows for flow rates between 1 litre/hour and 23 litres/hour to be achieved from the same gun. The low volume fogger uses only 1.2 CFM at 80 PSi and projects the fog two metres. The standard medium reach fogger uses 3.6 CFM at 80 PSi and will project the fog 4.5 metres.

The fog produced by these guns is a wet fog with an average drop size of 20-30 microns, meaning it can treat pathogens, including viruses like Covid-19, in the air and on surfaces. Wet fogs also disperse quickly, meaning premises can be entered within 30 minutes of using the disinfectant fogging guns without harm to non-PPE wearing employees. Adequate PPE must be worn by the gun operator at all time, however, and disinfectant manufacturers' product guidelines observed.

The High Reach Fogger uses 7.4 CFM and will project the fog 8 metres
