New managing director takes the helm at Phs Wastekit

* New-MD-Phs-Wastekit.jpgPhs Wastekit has appointed a new managing director as it seeks to expand its offering to create a whole service solution to waste management. Jason Smith joins Wastekit with 16 years' experience across the plant and tool hire industry and in retail management.

Headquartered in Smethwick, Wastekit provides waste solutions across the UK through the rental and sale of quality balers and compactors; delivering resource and space efficiencies by reducing the volume of waste and making it easier to manage. Recyclables such as paper, cardboard and plastics are compressed into bales ready for resale or collection. In addition, Wastekit has market-leading engineering capabilities offering service and maintenance with 24-hour emergency response.

As the new managing director, Jason plans to lead business growth and enhance its service to customers, meeting their waste management needs more effectively and offering an end-to-end service. Wastekit's solutions help businesses reduce their waste disposal costs by up to 90% and, in many cases, generate an income from their waste.

"Traditionally, Wastekit may have rented or sold a machine to a company and that would be the end of the journey for us," he explains. "However, we are looking to partner with local recyclers to offer a complete service to customers so they're not only baling or compacting their waste, it's collected as well.

"This potentially becomes a revenue generator for customers as recyclers will often pay to collect the waste, making it an attractive financial proposition as well ensuring waste is recycled which is the right thing to do from an environmental perspective; it makes sense for us as a business and our customers. There are big plans ahead for Wastekit so it's an exciting time to be here."

In addition to its core industrial, manufacturing and retail customer base, Wastekit has plans for cross-sector expansion within the HORECA, leisure, food manufacturing, education and health sectors.

With more than 35 years' experience and conducting 26,000 service visits every year, the business employs a network of 90 staff across the UK and Ireland and has helped 5,500 customers reduce their waste costs in the last four years. It offers free waste-saving audits including site surveys and bespoke consultation.

David Taylor-Smith, CEO of phs Group, says: "As a business, Wastekit offers an essential and valuable service to businesses. As the market changes, we will evolve to ensure we're continually meeting and exceeding our customers' requirements. We're confident that Jason is the right person to lead the company as it expands its operation in the year ahead."
