Cromwell Polythene's new business development manager takes over from retiree

* Cromwell-Polythene-BDMs.jpgFamily run business, Cromwell Polythene, which supplies a range of polythene and compostable products to aid recycling and waste management, has promoted Alex Lee to the position of business development manager. He takes over from Richard Rowling, a valued member of the team for over 10 years, who is now retiring.

Alex joined the team as a sales executive last year after several years' experience in the agricultural and IT sectors. In his new role as one of Cromwell's business development managers, he will be responsible for building relationships in the western region of the UK.

He says: "Richard is a well-recognised figure in the polythene industry and leaves some big shoes to fill. The sharing of his in-depth knowledge and practical experience of the whole supply chain from manufacturing to distribution has been invaluable in my induction to the role. I look forward to continuing his good work and to taking on the challenge of building on his success."

Richard, who has more than forty years' experience supplying products to the recycling and waste management industry, says:

"I leave my position in safe hands with Alex's appointment and wish him and the company all the best for the future. I have had an enjoyable and fulfilling career, during which I have seen collection methods change, the rise of recycling, and continued developments to capture and contain resources - including the collection of food waste over recent years in particular.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone I have worked with and met, and all the valued customers I have built wonderful relationships with over the years."

Alex is the middle son of managing director, James, and company secretary Debbie. His two brothers Angus and Henry are also part of the 37-strong team as office manager and business development manager respectively.

Alex recently managed the relaunch of Cromwell's free polythene recovery service, which returns clean polythene packaging to the production cycle. Used polythene is collected from its customers on a back-load basis, for recycling, saving virgin materials and resources in line with the principles of the circular economy. Benefits for customers include reduced waste disposal costs and regular reporting of packaging returns for recycling.
