Principle retains REM portfolio properties in five-year deal
Principle Cleaning Services, the London-based cleaning specialist, which provides its services to some of the most famous landmark buildings in the Capital, has retained its contract with Real Estate Management (UK) (REM) for three of its properties - The Shard, Park House, Oxford Street, and 48 Pall Mall.
The new five-year deal will see Principle, which began working with REM in 2012, involved in some of the most complex vertical cleaning required in London today.
The company will provide cleaning, window cleaning, pest control, waste management, washroom services and consumables at the three properties. Principle will also utilise its cloud-based systems and technology in its daily on-site operations.
Simon Green, head of facilities management at REM, says of the deal: "It is encouraging that after working with us for over five years, Principle has been able to demonstrate through competitive tender that it can still provide the best service proposition whilst remaining price competitive.
"We look forward to working with the company to introduce the new initiatives that it has proposed."
Peter Smith, CEO, Principle Cleaning Services, praised his team, saying: "Retaining this contract for another five years is a huge achievement for everyone at Principle and is testament to the hard work of all involved in keeping these iconic buildings in pristine condition on a day-to-day basis.
"We took part in in a rigorous tender process, part of which was effectively demonstrating our ability to continue to bring new innovation to the contract with the objective of both enhancing service and maximising value for money across different disciplines.
"We are delighted to have been successful and are looking forward to continuing our partnership with REM at all three properties."

The Shard, at 310m high (1,016 ft), is Western Europe's tallest building and comprises world-class offices, award-winning restaurants, the five-star Shangri-La Hotel and the UK's highest viewing gallery. Park House is recognised for its distinct, curvilinear shape and is the largest development in the area for 40 years, occupying an acre site between North Audley Street and Park Street. 48 Pall Mall provides 32,000sq.ft of new, open plan, Grade A office accommodation over nine floors, which has been completely redeveloped partly behind a restored historic facade.
Established in 1989, the privately-owned Principle Cleaning Services today has an annual turnover of £40 million and employs 2,200 people. Other iconic London landmark buildings it looks after include 20 Fenchurch Street (The Walkie Talkie) and 30 St Mary Axe (The Gherkin).
