Gojo - 2018 finalist in 9th annual Responsible Business Awards

* Gojo-2018-finalist.jpgThis week, the Ethical Corporation honored Gojo as a 2018 award finalist for the Innovation of the Year award and the Responsible Business of the Year award.

The Ethical Corporation recognises breakthrough strategies that are pushing boundaries in corporate responsibility and sustainability to address emerging core challenges that are shaping the future of responsible business.

Other finalists include Bridgestone, Coca-Cola Company, Merck, Unilever and the American Cleaning Institute. This year's judging panel featured leaders from across the globe, including Oliver Balch from The Guardian, Javette Hines from Citi and Aris Vrettos from the University of Cambridge.

"As a purpose-driven family enterprise, our Gojo purpose of saving lives and making life better through well-being solutions inspires our commitment to sustainability leadership and to continuously innovate to improve the lives of those we touch," says Marcella Kanfer Rolnick, executive chair of Gojo. "We recognise the critical role of business in creating a healthy future and put great effort into understanding and proactively managing the social, environmental and economic impacts of our business on society and the environment as new needs and challenges emerge."

Gojo was selected as a finalist for the Innovation of the Year award for its Purell brand Healthy Soap with Clean Release Technology.

As water conservation, antibacterial ingredient and harsh preservative concerns, and the need for more biobased product options are becoming increasingly more important globally, Purell Healthy Soap with Clean Release Technology offers a breakthrough hand soap that is 90% biobased and removes 99% of dirt and germs on skin without an antimicrobial soap ingredient. The innovative formulation rinses faster and cleaner, saving an estimated six gallons of water per refill compared to regular soap, conserving vital resources while helping to reduce antimicrobial resistance and advancing the science of hand hygiene to meet the needs of the changing world.

The Ethical Corporation also recognised Gojo as a Responsible Business of the Year finalist for leading the way in publicly announcing its 2020 Sustainable Value Strategies and Goals. These focus on creating social, environmental and economic value for all Gojo stakeholders - demonstrating the company's commitment to leading the industry in sustainable practices and solutions.

Srini Venkatesh, chief science officer, says: "What matters most to us at Gojo is that we continue to connect the people who use our products with well-being solutions that are better for their businesses, their lives and the world.

"To us, that's responsible business.

"As a learning organisation, we strive to understand the needs of our stakeholders, and we will continue to evolve and develop our sustainability goals with this in mind. Sustainability is a journey of continuous learning and improvement."
