Mouro helps solve hygiene issues and remove odours at mosques
Maintaining hygiene in a mosque can be something of a challenge because the building can be heavily used with, sometimes, thousands of people praying at the same time. High trafffic and odour are said to be the main issues when it comes to cleaning.
Turnaco Robotik has developed a technological solution to this problem, with what it believes is 'the world's first mosque carpet hygiene robot' - the Mouro.
The company's general manager, Kerem ?encan and CTO Vedat Tavas, explain: "This robot, which works autonomously and is controlled through a mobile phone app, is a complete cleaning system. It sweeps the carpet, disinfects it with UVC light and emits ozone to remove any bad smells."
The pair say they came up with the idea of producing a mosque cleaning robot upon hearing about two elderly men who have breathing problems and cataracts, who experience added difficulties when attending their local mosques.
