GDPR: Truvox's David Overell shares his views...
Tomorrow sees the implementation of the General Data Protection Regulations - the EU law that supersedes the Data Protection Directive and which protects the personal data of everyone within the EU and the European Economic area and addresses the export of personal data outside of these areas. We spoke with David Overell, managing director of Truvox International, on how the new regulations are affecting his organisation.
"The impending changes to the EU data protection laws affect all business, large and small, with particular complications to those of us with non-EU owns, customers and suppliers," he said. "Like many others, we have to deal with both the changes themselves and with the changes in how Truvox gathers, manages and shares that data.
"Our team in Hedge End took the early decision to incorporate GDPR into our Quality system, thereby making it part of our daily business process. With the help of external consultants, we examined all aspects of our business and developed a series of policies and supporting processes, and have included a GDPR section within our ISO 9001:2015 documentation.
"All our employees have undergone an accredited training and certification programme to ensure we all fully understand the new regulations and comply with the provisions affecting Truvox.
Although Truvox is part of Tacony Corporation, who trade globally, it was a significant undertaking for us in the UK to manage the new GDPR regulations, but the commitment of the team in ensuring that our customer, supplier and associate data was fully protected and correctly managed was of paramount importance."
