Hunt for CHSA's 2018 Undergraduate Scholars begins

* CHSA-Bursary.jpgThe Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association has launched the search for its 2018 Undergraduate Scholars; at least two will be awarded this year.

The CHSA has further committed to awarding at least two new bursaries every year for the next five years. The sons and daughters of CHSA members, who on 1st September 2018 will be 18 years or over and commencing their higher education studies this year, are eligible to apply.

The successful applicants will be awarded a maximum of £4,500, receiving the Bursary in three installments, £1,500 at the start of each academic year or for the first three academic years even if the degree is four years or longer.

Applicants are assessed according to need, worthiness, endeavour and overall performance. Each candidate brings something unique, so the selection process is incredibly competitive.

David Garcia, vice president of the CHSA explains: "Our employees' members work hard and this bursary, by giving something directly to their children, is a perfect way for us to say thank you for their contribution and ongoing commitment."

In recent times, the CHSA has awarded four bursaries. Adam Jackson, now completing his second year in Chemical Engineering, was the inaugural winner in 2016. He has bought books with his bursary and used it for day to day living expenses. He says: "The bursary is extremely helpful; I can't thank you enough!"

Lauren Moss was one of three successful applicants in 2017. Studying a BA in History at the University of London, Lauren has used the bursary to cover living costs, enabling her to save for a trip to Europe to visit historic sites including Anne Frank's house and the Brandenburg Gate. She says: "Never did I imagine I'd get selected. The bursary has completely transformed my university experience and given me opportunities I would otherwise never have had."

Applicants need to submit their completed form, which can be obtained from Linda Belcher (secretary of the CHSA) or from the CHSA website, by 29th June 2018. Those shortlisted will be interviewed in July by a selection panel to be led by David Garcia.
