ISSA strongly refutes RAI's Unilateral Termination of Alliance

* John-Barrett_ISSA.jpgIn light of the announcements currently circulating in the industry, ISSA - the worldwide association for the cleaning industry - unambiguously rejects RAI Amsterdam's contention that their long-standing alliance has ended.

ISSA wishes that any conjecture on its role in this matter be put to rest. The association's leadership wishes to stress to its valued members, peers and stakeholders that the current allegations regarding the association's partnership and global family of ISSA/Interclean exhibitions have been carried out without its consent. ISSA does not support RAI's unilateral departure from its obligations, nor its choice to communicate directly to members of the association with direction counter to its contractual obligations.

ISSA, as a member-funded and led association, has an implicit obligation to properly and transparently represent the cleaning industry. Its' global strategy and actions are readily available and consistently support the mission to bring together the industry to promote cleaning as a necessary investment in better health, a better environment and a better bottom line. There is no chain of events that would suggest otherwise.

In the current business climate - where ISSA members and industry companies are addressing their own challenges and opportunities on a daily basis - this is a selfish and unnecessary distraction. However, ISSA reaffirms that this current situation will not deflect it from the ongoing commitment to members' interests and the development of the industry. In fact, you can refer to its recent EMEA newsletter of this week outlining the association's latest expansion of benefits.

ISSA has grown from 7,000 members to more than 9,000 in a single year; its LinkedIn community now numbers more than 26,000 professionals. Given the progress we are making together in gaining respect for the global cleaning industry, and new projects that we have been co-operatively developing, RAI's sudden departure from this strategy is inexplicable.

We understand that the professional cleaning industry needs and deserves an association invested in your goals 365 days a year, not through any one event, any one partnership or any one project. It also is important to note that ISSA is a global association with scores of successful alliances already helping as it supports members with local, national and regional benefits and events in Europe, North America, Asia, the Middle East, Oceania and Latin America. Our global vision is becoming a reality and the collective industry voice is growing stronger.

Out of respect for our two organizations, our members, and the global cleaning industry, ISSA would hope discussions regarding the ISSA/Interclean partnership shall remain business-like and not be carried out in the public domain. Yet, rest assured that we will make every effort to communicate any new developments to our members and stakeholders as they unfold. In the meantime, for ISSA, it is business as usual as we continue to help our members change the way the world views cleaning.
