Rising star is not just for Christmas

* Jose-with-Gary-Fage.jpgThere's been no resting on his laurels for this year's British Institute of Cleaning Science Rising Star award winner, Jose Damian, who works at soft support services and contract cleaning specialist, Facilicom UK.

Following his accolade earlier this year, Jose has recently been promoted to area manager - his second promotion since joining the company in 2012.

Jose started working for Facilicom as a site supervisor and his diligence and positive work ethic stood out and he was quickly noticed by Facilicom's management team.

In January 2014, he was promoted to the position of area supervisor - a challenging role in which he worked with one of Facilicom's key clients. Jose was nominated for the 2015 BICSc Rising Star award, which he then won having been recognised for 'having substantially grown in his role in a relatively short period of time and having accomplished improvements to the cleaning service on his contracts'.

Jose continued to excel in his role, motivating colleagues and working closely with his clients to ensure the best possible service at all times, leading to his latest promotion. In his new position as area manager, Jose looks after his own portfolio of clients.

Giles Wheeler, Operations Director at Facilicom, says: "Jose is an excellent example of how people react if you treat them with respect and not as commodities. People are essential to the sustained success of our business and Jose is a shining example of the loyalty, talent and commitment people will invest in their jobs if they feel valued and fairly rewarded."

Andre Van Biljon, Jose's manager, adds: "This is still a fairly new role for Jose and one which will undoubtedly offer new challenges and the opportunity for further progression. Jose's 'can do' attitude has really helped his progression to this point. It has been a pleasure to have Jose as part of the team and I look forward to a long, successful future with him.

"Jose is in demand across the company. Nothing is too hard for him and he is on a fast track to more success. A star that shines brightly all year round!"

Operating nationally, Facilicom UK has over 3,000 colleagues with expertise in supporting businesses in a wide range of sectors including corporate blue chip environments, industrial, manufacturing, food processing and education.

Facilicom's 'Hostmanship' training is about 'the art of making people feel welcome'. It applies to clients, site visitors and colleagues. Hostmanship helps to show that customer service is not a department hidden away at head office - it's a part of everyone's job. The training helps to instil people skills in operatives, giving them the confidence to communicate with colleagues and clients.
