Vectair Systems honoured as International Green World Ambassador

* VECTAIR.jpgVectair Systems was honoured as International Green World Ambassador at a special presentation ceremony recently at the Houses of Parliament, London.

This recognition comes as a result of the environmental success of the company's V-Air Solid multi-phasing air freshener with sub-micron technology, which has won an International Green Apple Environment Award.

V-Air Solid is classified as VOC exempt and waste-free. It is completely free from any solvents, propellants, HFCs and harmful volatile organic compounds and it does not contain batteries. It is designed so that it does not need any external power source as such and it does not rely on gravity - all it needs to work is natural airflow. The refill is 100% organic and biodegradable and the dispenser is 100% recyclable.

Vectair Systems competed against more than 500 other nominations in the Green Apple Awards for Environmental Best Practice. As a result of this success, Vectair is having its winning paper published in The Green Book, the world's only annual work of reference on environmental best practice that is distributed to environment professionals, universities and libraries around the world by The Green Organisation.

The award judges commented: "Air fresheners in public facilities are products that are more likely noticed when they are not installed, but when used they can have VOC, recycling and waste implications. Vectair is a major global supplier and wanted to improve the sustainability of these products, so it invented a recyclable and biodegradable, passively dispersed system, that uses no propellants or electricity - yet performs as well as any other system."

Paul Wonnacott, managing director and president, Vectair Systems, is naturally delighted with the accolade: "We pride ourselves on being innovators in hygiene and the environment is something that our customers are increasingly becoming aware of," he says. "We have therefore invested a lot of time and resources into producing effective 'green' solutions and we are thrilled to have won such a prestigious accolade as the Green Apple Award for V-Air Solid."

The winning paper now goes forward for further judging and the possibility of representing the UK in the Brussels-led European Business Awards for the Environment.

The Green Apple Awards is one of the few environmental schemes in Britain that has official status to act as an automatic feeder scheme into the European campaign.

Vectair Systems is a leading technological innovator, manufacturer and supplier of hygiene products in a number of sectors worldwide, delivering sanitary solutions to over 120 countries.

In particular, the company is an expert in odour control, hand washing, surface care, feminine hygiene disposal, infant care and products specifically designed for the 'away from home' washroom.

With European head offices in Basingstoke, UK and North American headquarters in Memphis, US, along with manufacturing facilities based strategically around the world, Vectair truly has a global reach.
