In 2016, the Manchester Cleaning Show saw 2,308 attendees to the event which was almost double the estimated target and there was a real air of excitement over the two days, partly created by the BBC's news crew who toured the show floor on the opening morning and used its footage in regular news broadcasts.
Because the event was such a success, this year it promises to be bigger and better than ever, with almost 100 exhibitors signed up and a full and varied conference programme.
The software will be used to provide an advanced workforce management solution, including proof of attendance and shift planning, for 160 employees that operate at around 120+ customer sites located across Ireland.
With it becoming increasingly difficult for businesses to keep up with the volume of ever-changing regulation that they must adhere to, one compliance training expert is providing a much-needed helping hand with the launch of a learning academy.
Some 25 years of research from the Centre for Environment, Fisheries & Aquaculture Science (Cefas) has revealed changes in the composition of marine plastic litter, finding a decrease in the number of plastic bags found on the UK's seabed and suggesting that efforts may be able to tackle the marine litter challenge.
Despite the reduction in the number of plastic bags recorded in an analysis of scientific surveys, the overall amount of litter has been maintained by an increasing amount of other plastic items, including fishing debris.
The Society of Chemical Manufacturers & Affiliates (SOCMA), whose members play an indispensable role in the global chemical supply chain, has today responded to an announcement by China that it plans to impose tariffs on billions of dollars in US exports, including chemicals, in retaliation to the recently proposed US tariffs on Chinese aluminum, steel and other products.
Jennifer Abril, SOCMA president and CEO, issued the following statement:
RPC bpi recycled products has partnered with the Great British Spring Clean as its sole supplier of 100% recycled plastic refuse sacks for this year's campaign. The environmental charity is hoping to inspire and mobilise over 500,000 volunteers across the UK to go out and help clean up their local areas.
250,000 blue branded refuse sacks have been exclusively manufactured from post-consumer retail packaging at RPC bpi recycled products' manufacturing site in Heanor, Derbyshire.
After a series of training sessions conducted from August to September last year, which received acclaim from the Ascendas-Singbridge (ASB) senior management, the Restroom Association (Singapore) was invited to the ASB Forum in New Delhi on 21st March to share similar information about design, maintenance and education with other ASB professionals from countries such as Australia, China and India.
The professionals were provided with first-hand information on effective design that would influence better user behaviour and facilitate cleaning. Practical knowledge about assessing the performance of the cleaning service provider was also shared and this was followed by a session on the best ways to provide effective public education on showing kindness to cleaning attendants.
Clarity - The Soap Co. was given a Recognition Award for its social enterprise innovation at the inaugural Cleaning & Support Services Association Innovation Showcase 2018 - sponsored by the Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers' Association. Held at The Brewery, London, last month, the event celebrated the cleaning industry's six most innovative products, services and initiatives.
Camilla Marcus-Dew, head of commercial at the company, presented the product and social action innovation credentials at a Dragon's Den type panel in February, and as a result the social enterprise was shortlisted to attend the Showcase.

It can be a tricky topic where businesses are concerned... However, the grey fleet - which refers to any vehicle used for making a work-related journey, which is not owned or leased by the organisation itself - can be managed effectively when the right steps are taken. With 12 billion miles driven each year in grey fleet vehicles, it comes as no surprise that employers are paying out over five billion pounds a year in mileage claims and car allowances.
With recent news suggesting that grey fleet drivers may be over-claiming on their mileage accounts, this adds up to a lot of extra costs for businesses across the country. The British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association is in fact urging bosses to get to grips with the grey fleet by targeting a 50% reduction in mileage and costs by 2020.
Two kitchen extract fires in one Saturday in London demonstrate the risks of not regularly cleaning kitchen extract systems in accordance with TR/19, especially in warmer weather, says specialist building services provider, Swiftclean Building Services.
"We see this almost every year," warns Swiftclean managing director Gary Nicholls, commenting on fires on 15th July in Maiden lane, Covent Garden (which involved four fire engines and 21 firefighters) and Connaught Street in Bayswater, in which the extract systems of each restaurant were damaged from basement to first floor.
