Long-term partners seal the deal: Kärcher acquires Italian sweeper manufacturer ISAL

* isal.jpgKärcher has acquired long-term partner ISAL - the Corregio-based, Italian sweeping machine manufacturer and metal component producer, with which Kärcher has worked closely for more than a decade in the development of industrial sweepers.

The takeover comes following a bereavement within the ISAL owner family, and according to a statement issued by ISAL, it will be very much 'business as usual':

"We are very pleased to be able to announce that the German company Kärcher Beteilingungs-GmbH has taken over ownership of ISAL srl," it said. "ISAL, which looks back on a proud 40-year tradition, will continue to be run as an independent company based in its current location in Correggio without any loss of jobs. The business relationship with our customers and suppliers will not be affected in any way by the change.

"Kärcher, the world market leader in the field of cleaning technology (turnover 2013: 2.05 bilion Euro) and ISAL have collaborated successfully for several years in the development of industrial sweepers. As a part of the dynamically expanding Kärcher Group, we may look forward to new and promising opportunities. This family firm, founded in 1935, employs a total workforce of 10,700. In Italy, where Kärcher was already been successfully represented for more than two decades with a sales company and a number of producing locations, the workforce including ISAL comprises 800 employees.

"The corporate culture of Kärcher is focused on customer proximity, exceptional innovative drive and 100% quality orientation, which fit in ideally with the ISAL corporate values and sphere of competence. As a member of the Kärcher Group, ISAL will continue to fulfil its role of reliable partner and business associate to its suppliers."

Kärcher's Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Management Board, Hartmut Jenner, said of the development: "Our many years of cooperation with ISAL have been marked by great mutual appreciation and respect. By taking this strategic decision we are raising the bar of our competence in sweeping machine production still higher, and creating a solid foundation for long-term growth. The corporate culture of ISAL as an innovative family-run firm also fits in with us very well. We would like to take this opportunity to welcome our 46 new colleagues into the Kärcher family."

ISAL was founded in 1974 in Correggio, Italy. The medium-sized company specialises in the manufacture of walk-behind and ride-on vacuum sweepers, industrial sweepers and municipal vacuum sweepers, and its customers include professional cleaning firms, industrial producers, construction companies, haulage firms and public services. ISAL also produces metal components for the automotive industry.

Kärcher is represented in Italy with producing locations in Quistello, Montreale Volpiano and Reggio Emilia, as well as a sales company in Milan. Founded in 1935, the family firm now employs a workforce of 10,700 spread across 60 countries and 100 companies, just under 800 of them in Italy. In 2013, the world market leader in the field of cleaning technology registered the highest turnover in its corporate history with almost 2.05 billion Euro. It also achieved its highest ever number of units sold with a record 12.5 million units.

There has been an undertaking by both parties not to disclose the purchase price.
