Idrobase buys new premises to cope with increasing business

* Idrobase-group-3D.jpgAn expanding order book has forced Idrobase Group to seek extra capacity once more. The company has now bought a new 1,000 sq.m building, adjacent to its historic headquarters in Borgoricco, which will house a new production line and a warehouse.

In 1998, after 12 years as a distributor, Idrobase started out with a 900 sq.m building, most of which was used for storage while 100 sq.m was used for producing equipment destined mainly for the Italian market.

In 2003, the facility was extended by some 50% to increase warehouse capacity and provide offices for a workforce that had almost doubled over the years. Between then and 2007, the company doubled its turnover to € 5.5 million and also virtually doubled the size of its facility, with most of the extra space being used for production, which increased from the 100 sq.m originally required, to 1,020 sq.m.

Idrobase then set up the Club dei Riparatori, which produces and sells accessories and spare parts for the manufacture and repair of any kind of pressure washer on the market. This required space for the storage of more than 10,000 parts and thus the warehouse was forced to expand from 1,050 sq.m in 2007 to 1,750 sq.m in 2008 and then 2,100 sq.m in 2011, which, with the 1,020 sq.m reserved for production and the 500 sq.m for the offices, makes a total of 3620 sq.m.

Despite the recession, the Group closed 2011, 17% up on the previous year and then finished 2012 a further 13% up, with turnover reaching € 9.140 million. The company knew that if it was to continue to expand, it would need extra space and thus it took the decision to buy the adjacent building. This has enabled it to enlarge the warehouse, taking it from 2,100 sq.m to 2,600 sq.m, and to increase the production facility from 1,020 sq.m to 1,520 sq.m, within a total area of 4,620 sq.m.
